No Boys Allowed (OPEN DUH)

[Sapphy]

Sapphy leaned affectionately against Kennedy on the staircase, chin on her collarbone. "You look pretty today," she said to her old friend.

((I'm not gonna chat with myself, that'd just be sad. Kennedy'll continue under "Sapphy until someone else joins in.))

"You do too," Kennedy smiled back, strumming her guitar strings absentmindedly. There was a band playing some lively music for tonight, but Kennedy still brought her guitar. She rested her cheek on the top of Sapphy's head as she sang to her softly.

"I'll buy you all of Manhattan if I could," she sang, making it up as she went along. Kennedy didn't ever really sing so much as talk with a lift in a whispery voice. "My lovely Nolan-babydoll. With your sparkly hair and mischief eyes..."

Raven stood and listened to Kennedy's song and shook her head, that girl was one strange nut.

Nevada looked around at the other girls Rae was with. 'Nevada,' she said softly. 'y'all from manhattan?' she asked, trying her hardest at small talk.

[Sapphy]

"Miss Blake," Sapphy sang back, curling further into Kennedy. "You don't gotta buy me a thing. All I need is your hand in mine and a shared song in our hearts!"

Sapphy was like Kennedy, anything but musically trained. But she had an earnest voice; the kind of voice her child or a lover would love, but to everyone else, it was just low and thick.

"Yes'em," Sapphy said, turning to her with a smile. "Kennedy's up from your way, though."

"Are you'se already drunk? Ain't it a bit early in the game for slopping singing?" Raven said with a laugh.

[Sapphy]

Sapphy laughed, hiding her embarrassment.

"I haven't started yet. It's just a way Kenny and I communicate." Kennedy strummed the guitar in Raven's direction enthusiastically.

"Interesting," Raven said and tried not to laugh, it was kind of ridiculous though.

Nevada looked between Kennedy and Sapphy and frowned. These people were odd. She looked over to Rae, 'you're close with them?' she asked with a raised brow.

[Sapphy]

Sapphy and Kennedy exchanged a look without actually looking at each other. They were used to such looks and tones -- especially when together. Sapphy was more of the straight (wo)man of the pair, and unlike Bubblehead Blake, still felt self-conscious under such scrutiny.

Sapphy reached back and tugged Kennedy earlobe.

"Oh yes," Kennedy said with a dramatic strum. "Raven and I go waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back."

"Kennedy stays in Brooklyn sometimes so I know her, and Sapphy I met last week," Raven said, "You'll get used to them." Raven said with a laugh, "Kennedy play something lively."

[Kennedy]

Kennedy plucked a single string, looking at Raven for a response.

Nevada watched what was going on, 'suddenly losing my money in poker and getting drunk with Tristan seems likethe best idea ever,' she said under her breath. She took a deep breath, trying to get herself to lighten up, 'sorry ladies-I'm not used to people.' Nevada admitted.

[Sapphy]

"It's okay, neither are we," Sapphy said sympathetically. Or maybe it was that they were too used to people.

"That's good Kennedy," Raven said with a nod. Raven patted Nevada's arm and whispered in her ear, "You're doing fine, though I might need a drink with ya," She said with a grin.

Nevada laughed, 'they could he worse I suppose,' she said into her ear. 'so ladies,' nevada said turning back to the others, 'who wants to get drunk?'
