Kennedy thought and thought and thought. But really, there was only one secret she kept close to her heart.
"I don't know how to read," she whispered to Wraith.

"Really?" It wasn't deep or dark or blackmail-worthy, but it was clearly the best Kennedy could do. Wraith didn't need her brother's help to figure this girl out--it was obvious that she just told the truth, whole and uncensored, which was a large part of what made Wraith trust her, despite her frankly stated inability to keep secrets. "How do you deal with the headlines?" And being cut off from the world of ridiculous novels? Well, not everyone was an escapist.
((Taking off at last! Till tonight! <3))

"Someone's usually there to read them to me. Then I remember which pages their on," Kennedy said, a little proudly. She did have a fantastic memory.
((Hooray! Drive safe.))

"That's not so bad," Wraith said with a smile. "You should get someone to help you learn, though. It's hard at first, but once you get the hang of it..." She chuckled. "One of my roommates gets these books sometimes...they're as exciting as my life story, but much less depressing." Yes, Wraith could have a dark sense of humor.

"Oh honey," Kennedy sighed. "Many have tried to help teach me. Many have failed. I'm like an epic quest with knights and everythin'."

"I always wanted to be a knight." Wraith sighed nostalgically. "But if you're done trying to learn, you have to let me read you one of these books sometime. There are duels. With swords." She closed her eyes, starting to feel a bit sleepy from the booze. "I had a sword when I was a kid. Its name was Lancelot, but it was really a stick. I fought a duel for Tara's honor once..." She blushed and opened her eyes. "Anyway."

Kennedy smiled.
"I quite like being read to," she said.

"It's settled, then. I will steal A Lover's Secret from Tag's bunk. I am very sneaky," Wraith reminded her proudly.
And only one stray cautious thought drifted across her mind like a dark raincloud--Dear God, how many regrets will I have tomorrow morning?
((YES. And it will be adorable. Wraith is going to use all her feminine wiles, though she has a lot of boys to compete with, poor girl.))

((Let's do it! I started it in the Attic--it was all empty and lonely in there.))
