Wraith made her way up the dusty stairs, feeling a bit surreal. She could hardly believe Kennedy had come to visit her in Manhattan, or that she was currently luring the girl up into a dark attic with a stolen romance novel tucked furtively under her arm.
Or that they had kissed. And she'd told Kennedy all her secrets.
I kissed a girl and told her all my secrets. They'd probably put it on her tombstone, for God's sake. But as of today, no police had descended upon her, nor angry male lovers of Kennedy's, nor scandalized priests bent on exorcising her depraved Sapphic demons...and she was stupidly, blissfully happy.

Kennedy followed Wraith up the stairs, asking a new question before Wraith could answer...
"What book is that? Are you gonna read it to me? Is it good? Where are we going? Why is it dark up here? Are there monsters? What's that?"

((Love her. So much.))
"A Lover's Secret. Yes. No, but it's so wonderfully absurd you won't care. Up to the attic. Because we didn't bring candles. We maybe should've brought candles. Yes, but they're very cowardly, they'll hide in the rafters. And that...actually, I'm not sure what that is." Wraith peered at the object Kennedy had found. Ah--it was a long blond wig draped over a mannequin head. "I, uh...don't know why we have that. And I really don't want to know."
She felt her way along the wall to a window ledge and opened the curtains. Sunlight poured in, and she sat down, opened the book, and grinned. "Shall we?"
I kissed a girl and told her all my secrets, and she's my polar opposite and sometimes acts like a five-year-old. And that just makes her one of the very few people I'm not scared of. This was not getting any less surreal.

Kennedy eagerly sat down in front of Wraith, legs crossed. She looked so excited to be read to -- she always was.

And Wraith began. She went for a British accent, because no one in their right mind could swallow a medieval romance any other way.
"The Duke of Southerton lay in bed, unable to think of anything or anyone other than Arabella. How could he be so infatuated with and consumed by his mistress? It was simply unheard of in his circle of society. Dukes did not fall in love with their mistresses. And that was that."

Kennedy gasped softly.
She moved to get more comfortable: Belly on the floor, arching up to look at Wraith as she kicked her feet gently in the air.

"But tonight, he knew that she awaited him in his chambers, and his eagerness, his passion, could not possibly be fathomed. His manhood began to rise before he even..." Wraith rolled her eyes and skipped ahead.
"...And there she lay, naked and shining in the moonlight that spilled through the latticed windows, her breasts white as snow, her nipples standing erect, awaiting his touch, her legs spread before him, the soft folds of her womanhood glistening with anticipation..." The British accent faded during this passage, replaced by a delicious, dramatic emphasis on every...single...word.
((She is all kinds of evil that I didn't even know about.))

Kennedy's smile slowly slipped off her face. Her legs laid flat on the ground behind her.
Her fingers tips started to tingle as she held her breath.

"'Oh, Arabella,' he breathed, throwing aside his jacket and peeling his shirt from his..." She skipped ahead again, although Kennedy would probably have enjoyed the whole passage. "'...you look like heaven in the moonlight, my dear.' He leapt onto the bed like a wild creature, pulled her close to him, and kissed her, hard and fierce, grasping her breasts, lowering his mouth, taking her nipple into it, while his hand ventured down between her thighs..."
Wraith was finally blushing now, former whore or not, and her voice had been reduced to a squeak. She looked up and smiled brightly at Kennedy. "See? It's really quite riveting."

Kennedy looked up at Wraith heavily, her stomach in knots.

"You all right?" Wraith wasn't exactly composed herself. She didn't remember the first chapter being quite this...yeah.
Also, it was hot in here.
Well, it was an attic.
Attics were hot.

A need was throbbing in Kennedy's stomach. And Wraith's voice... And she was here and she smelled so good and that kiss in the rafters a few nights ago...
That night seemed so, so long ago.
She had felt safe with Wraith when they met at Irving Hall. Safer than anyone. She slowly parted her lips to speak, but no sound came out. She just kept her eyes on Wraith.

Wraith put the book down and looked at Kennedy, shy and eager at the same time, as it dawned on her that despite her scheming her way into this situation, she had no idea what she was doing. She didn't even know what was going on between them, if anything. If you kissed once, what did that make you? Kissing buddies?
What if you kissed twice?
"Do you want to...?" Without allowing herself to think about it anymore, she reached up and pulled the curtains shut, knelt on the floor in front of Kennedy, pulled her close, and kissed her again.

Kennedy was used to kissing girls. She loved everybody!
But when Wraith kissed her, a little moan escaped her lips. She really, really liked it when Wraith kissed her. Her hand went up and cupped Wraith's jaw, kissing her a little more desperately.

Wraith ran her fingers gently through Kennedy's hair, down her cheek, down her arm. There was no part of her body that wasn't thrilled right now. She hadn't done this with anyone and enjoyed it since Tara, and they'd just been kids and had never gone much farther.
She stopped kissing Kennedy's lips long enough to kiss her neck, soft at first, just to see if she liked it, because Wraith always had.
