"Aaaalright then," said Ershey, thinking that it was better to drop the subject. No Racetrack talk anymore.

Sapphy felt a little guilty -- it was perhaps a bit bitchy.
"So where are we gonna sell today?" she asked brightly.

"Central Park?" suggested Ershey as she grabbed her papers, excited to sell with Sapphy. She brushed off Sapphy's previous behavior, chalking it up to her having a bad day (or temper). "It's a bit hot so everyone will want to walk through the shade today."

"Fantastic," Sapphy beamed, hoisting her papers over her shoulder. "I love summer," she commented thoughtfully.

"Why can't it be summer all year here in Manhattan?" pouted Ershey as they made their way towards Central Park.

"I know, I hate snow," Sapphy groaned. "I think it's because my blood runs hot."

((MEAN GIRLS.))
"Exactly!" said Ershey, smirking as they entered Central Park.

"How do you sell papes?" Sapphy asked Ershey. "I heard the boys had this huge contest the other day... Rae shoulda won, but since she was a girl..." She rolled her eyes.

"Those boys don't know what they're dealing it when it comes to girls sellin' papes," said Ershey, shaking her head. "Just the usual, y'know? Bigger headlines, bein' loud... and when things are slow, maybe hiking up the skirt a couple inches or so." She was a girl and she didn't mind flaunting it as long as it was for selling papers and nothing else.

"Yeah, me too. I'm pretty straightforward unless I'm short," Sapphy said thoughtfully. "I'm not that great at it, truthfully."

"I've only really been doin' well lately 'cause my face looks like someone pounded all over it," explained Ershey, sighing.

Sapphy frowned sadly.
"I've been meaning to ask you about that, but didn't think you'd say."

"That was, um..." started Ershey, wondering whether she should spill the beans to Sapphy. "Just... someone got mad at me. Someone you don't know... but things are better, sort of?"
