Raven nodded. "Yea...I am..." She sighed heavily. "I thought you were really gone for good. That's why I took the job at Carmichael's...I had to do something, ya know?" She let go of his hand and wrapped her arms around herself.

"Oh really?" Raven said taking a step back. "Well you broke mine too! You came back that night and...and it was like nothing horrible had ever happened to me and then you just fucking left! You think you didn't break my heart? And then...then I found out I was pregnant, how do you think I felt, Spot? I was all alone!"

Raven nodded. "Okay..." She chewed on her lip. "Okay." She said again, nodding once more.
"Well...congratulations." She said carefully, "I should get going." Raven didn't look at him as she headed for the door.

Raven sighed heavily. Spot Conlon was like a drug to her. When he was around she just felt whole and complete. He was her best friend. She loved him no matter what he did.

Spot sighed, standing up. "Well now that I know about our kid....this changes things." It had been easy to pretend that Raven wasn't important or essential to his life when he was bringing in the dough and interacting with the aristocrats. New york felt like a different place, and it was easy to ignore where he had come from.
But now that Raven was about to raise a kid on her own- HIS kid- Spot wouldn't be able to hide anymore.
She was just so goddamn stubborn.

"Obviously not that much Spot, you don't seem to really want to change anything in your life at the moment." Raven said. She looked into his eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll be alright. I always am." She said with a shrug and a sad smile.

Raven looked down at their clasped hands and looked into his eyes. "Really? Don't fuck with me Spot cause I don't know if I can handle it...I was set to do this alone, not knowing if you were ever gonna come back."
She bit her lip and sighed. "Are you doing this just because of the baby? If you don't love me..."

Spot sighed. "Of course I love you, but...I don't trust you. I left because I knew we would never move on if I was still in New York." He nodded. Of course it had to do with the baby.
Spot was torn. On one hand he could have the family he had always wanted with Rae. But on the other, he would probably lose his job and this apartment if he broke off his engagement with Annabelle.

"Well," Raven started and then didn't really know what to say. He didn't trust her? She didn't know what to make of that, "Spot if you don't trust me then we can't be together. Nothing will ever be how it was. Don't get all honorable on me now and just marry me because you knocked me up."
Raven swallowed hard, "I really did break us didn't I? You'll have such a different easier life with Annabelle. She'll listen to you and you'll have beautiful children and live a simple safe life together."
She unclasped his hand and stepped back. "I'm going to go and just forget that you ever saw me. I'll get a different job." Raven wiped her eyes. "I'm not your problem anymore. You don't need to worry about me or the baby, we'll be okay."
Raven had never pictured it ending this way. She always thought that they would make it no matter what happened, no matter the odds. She loved him entirely and would never love anyone else the same way. Her mind was racing. She pressed her hand to her stomach and stepped further away from him.
Raven didn't want to cry in front of him, but it was too late. She'd started crying. If he held her it would all be over. She wouldn't be able to walk away.
