Raven looked over at him and smiled, "what about the bolognese?" She asked with a raised brow.
She kicked at a can on the bridge and looked at the floor, her oddly cut hair feel across her eyes.

"It's unbelievable. But you can judge for yourself." The can rolled his way, and he kicked it off the bridge and watched it drop down toward the water, then crossed to the other side and started down the street with Rae still following. "Gotta warn you, though, the head waitress...she's very..." He made some vague hand gestures. "...energetic."

"Oh is she?" Raven smirked. "I can handle it for a little while I think." She was quiet for a little bit as they continued on their walk.
"How long you been a newsie?"

He had to think about that. "Maybe...seven years?" He grinned. "I could tell some great stories about seven-year-old Spot Conlon."

"Yeah?" Raven said and she actually looked insanely interested in this. "I think you should start talking Higgins." She half smiled at him. "he seems like he'd still be a cocky little shit though."

"Always." Race smirked. "Let's see. Well, he saved me from a couple thugs the first time we met. And I swear he was using the same damn slingshot back then, I dunno how that thing even works anymore. He gave his favorite marble to an eight-year-old newsgirl once and got himself punched in the face 'cause she thought he was being fresh. And he may have had a teddy bear, but I'm not telling you which loose floorboard it's currently hidden under. I've got some loyalty, y'know."

"He sounds like he's completely fearless." She remarked. "I really don't think he's that scary, not how all the Manhattan newsies make him out to be anyway."

"Oh, well...Manhattan." Race snorted. "It's hard for me to say, 'cause, hey, I know where his old teddy bear's hidden. Seeing him in a fight is kinda terrifying, though."

"yeah?" Raven asked, feigning interest, though she really was interested. Anywhere besides Brooklyn, Spot was this sort of enigma and everybody's voice got all quiet when they talked about him.
"Also, the teddy bear, is it a fluffy one with glass eyes? I always wanted one of those." She smirked at Race.

Race returned the smirk. "Then you should take his, and then if he ever realizes it's gone, we'll know he goes to check on it now and then. And you'll have blackmail material forever."

"Well...you need to tell me where it is then." Raven smirked at him.

Race sighed. "Third floorboard to the left of the bunkroom door, and don't tell him I told you. Or I'll tell him you stole my selling spot, which he may or may not care about."

"My lips are sealed." Raven nodded. "Is this the place?" She pointed up at a sign that read Mama's.

"This's it!" Race confirmed, right before a busty young woman burst out the door.
"Benvenuti!" she exclaimed, then did a double-take and gasped in delight. "Oh, Tony, you have finally found a lady friend! Meraviglioso! I will go tell everyone!"
Race coughed. "Actually, we, uh, just met..." Sophia disappeared inside. Race gave Raven an apologetic look. "...less than an hour ago," he concluded, shaking his head and entering the restaurant.

Raven bit her lip and smiled. The place was adorable and from the smells coming from the kitchen she knew the food was gonna be good.
"Hi!" Raven said and waved, following Race inside.
