"We better come back and we might as well let them, then they won't bug us about getting girlfriends and boyfriends," Rae definitely had sauce on her chin and she hastily wiped it away with her napkin.

"An excellent point," Race agreed, digging some of his paper profits out of his pockets as Sophia dropped off the bill. He had a feeling this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Raven took out her own money as well and handed it to him. "You know we should act all lovey dovey when we leave, really firm it up."

He set their combined money on the table and grinned evilly. "Let's do it." He got up and reached dramatically for her hand.

Raven took his hand and leaned in close to him. She even kissed his cheek as they headed out the door.

((...and walked right into Spot. ;D))
He managed not to laugh until they'd left the restaurant. "Well, now that rumor's never gonna die."

"I'm sorry! You should've known you can never trust an Irishman. My mother useta tell me that every day, while my dad sat there reading the paper and rolling his eyes."

Raven smiled at him, "You're only half, so I'll only trust half of you." She kept walking, "and your parents sound like they were really great." Shel looked over at him, "my parents didn't hate each other but they avoided each other."

"Really? How come?" he asked, and caught himself. "If you wanna talk about it, I mean. I know family can be a touchy subject."

"Well...I dunno really. I mean they had three kids and all. I think they were arranged." Raven shrugged. "I think my mom would have picked someone different for herself."

He nodded. "My parents were the opposite. Both families told 'em to go to hell if they were gonna marry each other, but they did it anyway. So you've got siblings?"

"Yeah, an older brother," Rae chose to leave out that he was a sadistic and twisted individual who did things to his sister that a brother should never do, "and I had a little sister." She said with a shrug. "You're lucky you got to grow up like that."

"Yeah, I know. Wasn't for that long, though--they died when I was seven. There was a fever." Race was kind of surprised at the turn the conversation was taken. Usually when he met new people, all they wanted to hear about were adventures involving Brooklyn and Spot Conlon; his family didn't really come up much. "And then there was an orphanage," he continued cheerfully enough, "and then there was Spot. Your turn!"

"Well...my mom died having my sister and my dad couldn't handle the three of us so he decided to ship us here to America to an aunt or something. My sister died on the way over, she was only two so when we docked my brother decided the two of us would do it on our own." She didn't know if she should tell him everything...and then she decided to just trust him. "It was okay for awhile and then...it wasn't. He um got mean and did things that brothers shouldn't do to there sisters." She bit her lip, she rolled up her shirt and showed him the wide flat scar on her forearm. "Hot knife...cause I don't listen. My brothers a sick bastard."
