Ershey glanced at Race, scoffed and then focused her attention back on her feet. "Mmhmm!"
((I'll send it nooooow! I keep on getting distracted, wah!))

Race winced. "Sorry!" He would have liked to cover up what he'd said before, explain it away somehow, but his brain just wasn't functioning at full capacity right now. It was all he could do to steer them around the right corner. One more street to go.

Risk would've liked to ask Race more about what he had mentioned earlier. He knew now would be the perfect time considering the amount of alcohol they all consumed... then again, his sister was right here. Dammit.
"We're almost here, Adri," said Risk as they turned the corner. He glanced over at Race, wondering whether he could somehow catch up with him afterwards.
"This is taking forever!" she sighed. "Where's Macbeth, anyway?"

"Whaddaya want her for?" Race asked in surprise. He was kind of perversely fond of Macbeth, even with her constant foul mood and her habit of throwing things at him, but he wasn't sure why anyone would ever call on her in a crisis.

"I don't know! I miss her!" frowned Ershey before nudging Risk. "C'mon, go get her!"
"What, now?!"
"Yes!"
"Why?" asked Risk in confusion.
"Do it or I'll throw up on you!"

"I'd do it, if you think you can find her," Race advised. In his experience, you didn't argue with drunks as long as their requests were harmless. "I can get her inside." They had, thank God, just turned onto Duane Street.

"But --"
"Just go!" shouted Ershey, prying her arm off of Risk who hesitantly ran off towards the lodging house. He took off in a sprint, quite scared to see what his sister would do if he got her upset while she was drunk. He bounded up the steps on the porch opened the door and shouted, "MACBETH!!!!"

Earlier that very evening, Macbeth had gotten back from a certain meeting at Tibby's with a certain guy from Brooklyn. She had been pacing the bunkroom ever since, alternately brooding and panicking, even after the lights went out and most of the other girls went to bed. It was pretty much the worst possible time for anyone to be shouting her name.
She marched out to the staircase and glared murderously down at Risk. "What the hell do you want!?"

"Just come with me!" he muttered as he quickly grabbed her wrist and led her out onto the street.

"What the hell do you think you're--" She yanked her wrist away from him and was actually poised to hit him when she saw Race and Ershey approaching and changed her priorities. "What happened!? Ersh, you all right?" she demanded, storming over to them and examining her friend. The smell of alcohol was quite prominent, and she raised an eyebrow and glared over her shoulder at Risk, already blaming him.

Risk shrugged at Macbeth, too scared to say anything else. He knew that any excuse wouldn't work right now.
"Macbeth!" yelled Ershey happily, yanking herself away from Race and stumbling towards Macbeth to give her a messy hug. "You're here! Alec got you! The three of us went for drinks!!"

"I can see that," Macbeth said through gritted teeth, slinging an arm around Ershey and shooting Racetrack a murderous look as well. Having been relieved of Ershey, however, Race was feeling the alcohol again, and he only managed to stagger over to the porch before slumping onto the steps with his head in his hands.
Beth towed Ershey up the steps and into the lodging house, growling at Risk as she passed, "You had better not go anywhere." On top of everything else, she couldn't believe she had to deal with him right now. Her nerves were ready to explode. "C'mon, Ersh, lie down here, I'll get you some water." She gave Ershey a gentle push onto the couch, filled a glass in the kitchen, and brought it back to her.

"Awww, thanks, Macbeth! I knew you'd take care of me," grinned Ershey before taking a sip of water.
Risk, however, stood close to Race. If he was going to be in trouble, he didn't want to be the only one. "Uh, you alright, there?"

Macbeth ignored him for the moment. "Anything else you need, kiddo?" she asked Ershey in an amazingly gentle voice, considering her normal personality plus her current mood. "'Cause I gotta go out and have a little talk with your brother."

"Bed!" muttered Ershey, pushing herself off the couch and stumbling towards the stairs. "I can make it!"
"Wait, what? Me?" said Risk, already tiptoeing towards the door. "Why me?"
