Tristan sat at the counter in Tibby's looking at the menu. He'd been here over a dozen times but he needed to look like he was keeping busy somehow. He was waiting for Macbeth to arrive so they could finally have their chat.

To say Macbeth was not looking forward to this was an understatement. When she'd gotten word of the meeting, she'd seriously considered just ignoring it. She knew no good could come of it, that they should both just go about their lives and pretend they'd never recognized each other. But curiosity...and anger...finally won out, and she walked into the restaurant, spotted him, and sat down across from him without a word.

Tristan glanced at her for a second and then took a sip of his beer, leaning back in his chair.
"You're Ada's sister right?" He asked her.

"I told you I was," she said coolly, playing with the saltshaker and looking at him through narrow eyes. "So what? She's been dead for two years, don't tell me you're still hung up on her."

"Nah, I've had plenty of girls since then. She was a girl...who was just as fucked up as I was." He said and looked at her. Tristan sighed, "I didn't know she died." He didn't actually. He felt so strange, he was being slapped in the face with his past and he hated it.
"I tried to get her to stop ya know?" He meant the whoring.

Beth snorted. "She never would've stopped. She was convinced she was gonna find some guy with a fortune who'd fall head over heels for her and 'take her away from it all.' And I doubt you had anything to give her."
Oh, you gave her something, all right. The thought came with a wave of hatred that had to be showing in her face, but her face was hardly ever friendly anyway. She tried to quell the feeling; she didn't know for sure. "When were you with her, anyway? It was a fling, wasn't it? Not just a night or two."

"I told her nobody was gonna take care of her but herself, she never wanted to hear that, yet she always came back." Tristan said and leaned forward.
"It was a fling...for awhile, around six months. She got this thing into her head that I was gonna be some famous boxer and I told her she was nuts. We started fighting..."

"And she'd come home even drunker than usual. April practically had to carry her sometimes," Macbeth said almost to herself, remembering. Ada's best friend and fellow whore had been, on the whole, a much happier and more self-sufficient person, which was probably why she was still alive. That and her johns were never too fucked up to know when to pull out.
He was the one, she was sure of it. The timing was right, and those eyes... "Well, like I said, she's dead," Beth said curtly, "so I don't think you and me have much left to talk about."

"And I think you're full of shit," Tristan said to her, not nearly as friendly as before. "There's something you ain't telling me. I'm sorry she died, but honestly I'm surprised your sister lived as long as she did." Tristan finished off his beer and set it down on the table.

And that was the last straw for Beth. She jumped to her feet, fists balled and eyes flashing, and growled, "She would've lived a lot fucking longer if she'd never met you."
((And on that terrifying note, I have to go for like an hour. Don't leave! Haha.))

((oh man I might have to! work in the AM))
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean!? I didn't her a fucking grave, she put herself there with all the screwing, the booze, the drugs! She wasn't no angel!" Tristan snapped at her angrily.

"She had a kid!" Macbeth yelled, attracting the attention of literally everyone in the whole restaurant. A few people actually got up and left, eager to be as far from this little drama as possible. "She died having your fucking kid."
Beth tended to regret almost everything she ever said, but never before had she been hit with a sick wave of panic a split second after something came out of her mouth. She turned away from Tristan and strode toward the door, the waiters hastily clearing a path for her.

Tristan immediately got up from his seat and followed her, in a split second his hand was on her arm and he dragged her into the alleyway off Tibby's so they had some privacy.
"Calm the fuck down!" He pointed in her face and snapped at her. "What the hell are you talking about?"

"You heard me," she snapped right back at him. "She wasn't fucking anyone else then, as far as I know, so it had to be you. But she's dead...they're both dead, so what the hell does it matter?"
She didn't think a guy like this would care that he had a two-year-old daughter living right in this city, right in his own borough. She didn't think he'd give a damn about Jo. But there was no way in hell she was taking the chance that he might.
((Although Raven knows about her...*ominous music*))

"Wha....what?" Tristan sort of gaped at her. "What do you mean they're both dead?" Holy shit, he had a daughter he didn't even know about and she was dead? what the fuck?
"Son of a bitch!" He didn't know what the hell he was feeling, but he needed to break something so he picked up a milk crate and smashed it down onto the floor and then kicked it.
