Moonshine felt his insides twist, which only made him angrier. When he spoke, his voice was tight, barely controlled, and his tone was sarcastic. "Well, clearly that proves it, then. He definitely cares about ya. He treats ya like shit, ignores ya when it matters, but kisses ya when he gets the chance. Oh, yeah. He sounds like a real keeper."

"No, you're wrong!" Kathryn was sure people passing by were staring at them now, her voice was so out of control. "You've got it all wrong! He doesn't treat me like...well, what you said. And he doesn't ignore me!"

"Doesn't he?!" He nearly growled, moving to stand toe to toe with her again. His voice was lower when he spoke again, eyes flashing with anger, jealousy,and more than a little lust. "Doesn't he? He sees me kissin' you, my hands on you...an' he don't so much as bat an eye. Just waves on bye and goes back ta dancin'. He saw ya run out, Kat. Saw ya, but didn't go after ya. But I. Did."

Kathryn let out a groan of frustration, actually stomping her foot now.

His voice did come out in a low growl this time. "Understand what, Kathryn? Understand that you used me?? That even though I knew it, I figured it wouldn't hurt nothin', yet here I am a fuckin' week later, and I still can't get ya outta my head!"

Kathryn drew back at his use of such foul language, but she got a hold of herself, taking a deep breath.
"I apologize for using you, Tyler. I really am sorry, nobody should be treated like that. But, like you said, you knew it. You didn't have to kiss me."

He let out an angry huff of air. "Goddammit, Kathryn, don't ya think I know that?! But I did! And now all I keep thinkin' about is doin' it again!" He gestured at her, nearly grabbing her then, but he held back. "And here ya are, standin' there lookin' at me with those big eyes, actin' like the goddamn Ice Queen of the Upper West Side, and I still fuckin' want you!"

Kathryn looked away from him the moment he mentioned her eyes. She felt her cheeks flush, and she wanted to die right there rather then let him see how he got to her.
"Well, I'm sorry," she said, her voice quivering with emotion. Which emotion it was quivering with, she wasn't exactly sure. "But you're just going to have to get over that. I shouldn't be hanging around with, much less dating, a newsie. But I don't care, and the only newsie I want to be with is Blink."

He snorted. "Yeah, well, why don't ya try lookin' like ya mean it when ya say that, cuz I don't believe it for a second." He took a ragged breath, trying to calm down. "Kathryn..." He trailed off. Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew he was pushing it, making things worse. But he couldn't seem to let go.

He set his mouth in a thin, hard line. He was trying not to be mad. He looked down at her, meeting her eyes, his own flashing. "Yer to good for him, ya know that, right." He finally let himself bring a hand up to touch her hair again.

He couldn't help but smile a little at that, fingering her hair, taking a step closer to her. "Sugar, if that was it, you'dbe too good for me, too." He brushed his fingers along the shell of her ear. "Yer too good for 'im cuz ya deserve better than some kid who doesn't know how ta treat a lady."
((Uh, p.s., just read an article...they think Newsies could be going to Broadway as early as Spring!))

Chills ran up and down her spine as he grazed her ear; she could feel his breath on her forehead, and (unfortunately) it wasn't extremely unpleasant.
