Kathryn's breath got stuck in her throat, and she was ashamed to feel her cheeks flushing madly. She had every mind to shrug his hand off her neck, but she seemed to be frozen in place.
"Well," she started, her voice sounding almost hoarse, "all males are different."

"Well, now ya got somethin' right at least." His voice was softer now, quieter, but husky. He watched her face, eyes on her the whole time. He licked his bottom lip, fingers just lightly playing with the little hairs on the back of her neck.

Kathryn wondered if he was going to try and kiss her. It certainly felt like he wanted to. And, considering she was still quite frozen in place, she didn't know whether or not she'd be able to stop him. Did she want to kiss him? No. But that didn't seem to matter to him.

Moonshine wasn't typically in the habit of kissing girls who didn't want to be kissed. What was the point, after all? But in this case, he was tempted to make an exception. In his mind, and based on the look on Kathryn's face, she did want him to kiss her, she just refused to admit it to herself. To test his theory, he slowly and carefully ducked his head down, pressing his lips lightly on her cheek, just at the corner of her mouth.

She was so thankful he hadn't kissed her on the lips. Then she'd have to slap him, and she didn't feel like slapping anyone. Right now.
Kathryn was finally able to move, and she took a giant step back from him. "Please don't. Don't kiss me."

Kathryn almost shrugged, for she couldn't really explain it. But she felt like she had to come up with a tangible reason or else Moonshine wouldn't be satisfied.
"He... He doesn't treat me like a porcelain doll. And he doesn't take for granted that I like him, it's like he's surprised I even pay attention to him. He makes me laugh even when he doesn't mean to. He just..." she did shrug now, unable to find the word she was searching for. "He's just Blink."

His shoulders stiffened, setting. That twist in his gut tightened and his eyes went dark. His voice came out low, almost hollow. "Well. Then who the hell am I to interfere." He clenched his fist once or twice, but he knew he wasn't fooling anybody. He was pissed. And maybe a little hurt, more than a little disappointed. But it was much safer just to be mad.

"Because ya won't even gimme a chance, Kathryn! You got yer mind made up on somethin' ya may not even end up gettin', and here I am standin' around like a damn fool!" Could she not see how hard this was for him? He felt like an idiot, and somehow could not manage to make himself just walk away and forget the whole thing.

"You just said it yourself. I have my mind made up. And it's not easy to change my mind once it's made up," she informed him in a very matter of fact tone. She kind of felt sorry for him, actually. But they were obviously more similar than she'd thought; persistent and downright stubborn.
