"I'm sorry," she whispered, the tears flowing freely down her cheeks now.
Teddy sighed, pressing his forehead against hers. Then, he went to stand behind her so he could get a better look at Daisy. "She sure is beautiful," he said softly.

Tyler held her, rocking gently. "Kathryn, ya got nothin' to be sorry for. You didn't do it." Be kissed her forehead, then her cheek, then her lips.
Maggie smiled, looking down at the two-month-old who was busy sucking on her hand and staring up at them with big eyes. "She's the most amazing thing I've ever done..."

"I'm sorry," she repeated, though she didn't know what she was sorry for. She cried into his chest, her head aching, her back aching, her arms and legs aching.
"Well, you had help..." Teddy set his head right next to Maggie's, hands rubbing her arms gently. "When was she born? What's her full name? Just tell me everything."

Tyler simply held her, murmuring sweet nothings against her hair, her ear, her lips. He knew it would take her time, take them both time, to get through what they'd experienced. He hoped it would be easier once they were home --wherever that might be.
Maggie laughed a little, moving to sit on the couch. "She was born August 28th at four in the morning. She was the loudest baby in the place, and had a full head of hair. Her name's Daisy Marie--" she paused, looking up at him. "Meyers..."

"Tyler, I don't..." Kathryn could barely get the words out of her mouth; she was sobbing, her body shaking.
Teddy couldn't help it. A lump formed in his throat as he looked at Maggie holding his daughter. "Can...Can I hold her?"

Tears stung Tyler's eyes, and he held her closely. He didn't know what to do or say to make her better. He rocked her, kissing her. "Baby...oh, Kat..."
Maggie smiled and bit her lip, helping settle the baby in his arms. The second he was holding her, she sat back against the couch, angled towards him, and started to cry all over again.

"This world," she started, sniffling. "It's too violent. I don't -- I don't want... It's too dangerous." She couldn't voice entirely what she was thinking; she felt too guilty.
Teddy let out a breath, one he hadn't known he was holding in. He felt like he was holding a porcelain doll and if he moved one inch, she would break. "Hey..." he whispered, staring into her eyes. "Daddy's here."

Tyler frowned at her, confused. "You...ya don't want...what? Do ya....do ya not want...the baby...?" He felt like he might throw up.
Maggie nearly melted into the couch right there, putting a hand to her lips, watching them. Daisy blinked up at Teddy, sucking on her hand, then smiled.

"Of course I do," she replied quickly, more and more tears streaming down her face. "I'm just so...scared."
Teddy gasped and looked over at Maggie. "Hey, did ya see that? She smiled at me!" He laughed softly before leaning down and gently kissing Daisy's forehead.

Tyler relaxed, just a little, then held her against him, rubbing her back. "Kat...Kathryn, it'll be okay...we're going home...we'll be alright..." He felt useless.
Maggie wiped her eyes, laughing. "She knows who you are. I've showed her your picture every day." She looked at him, biting her lip. When Daisy started to fuss, she took her, putting her in the automated swing she liked, then went back to sit with Teddy.

Kathryn just cried until she fell asleep, clutching onto Tyler and not letting go.
"Huh. Funny, you never showed me hers..." he quirked an eyebrow over at her. He didn't know whether or not he was furious with her, but he definitely knew he was annoyed.

Tyler fell asleep beside her, after a while. He never left her side, not for the next three days. Finally, it was Saturday. She was being released from the clinic, and they had a Blackhawk to catch. "Baby...baby, you ready?"
Maggie frowned down at her lap. She knew she deserved that. "Teddy, I...I didn't want you to know and then worry or feel guilty...I just wanted you to focus so you would come home alive..."

"Once you tell me you love me, I will be," Kathryn replied, smiling up at him. After a lot of thinking, Kathryn had decided she wanted to live in Stowe, Vermont. She'd heard about it from some of her friends back home who were really into skiing, and the pictures she'd seen were absolutely gorgeous.
Teddy sighed, turning toward her, rubbing her neck gently. "Yeah, but, Mags... If I'd known about her, that woulda given me even more reason to stay alive."

Tyler smiled at her, holding her arm as he helped her to the loading dock. He kissed her cheek, murmuring. "I love you, Sugar." He gave their packs to a soldier who loaded them into the copter. "Come on baby. We're takin' this to Tokyo, then flyin' home from there."
Maggie's eyes welled up and she threw herself at him, burying her face in the front of his shirt and sobbing. "Oh, Teddy, I'm so sorry!"

Kathryn took a deep breath before boarding the helicopter. She wasn't too fond of flying, and she wasn't very excited about going in this copter.
Teddy sighed, wrapping his arms around her, rubbing her back. "Mags... Baby, it's all right. Just... Don't do it again, okay?" he chuckled into her hair. He figured he probably shouldn't have forgiven her that easily, but...she had been pregnant when she'd made the decision to not tell him. And, from what he'd heard from his dad, pregnant women were not to be understood.
