Zippy stared at her drawings, still out of her reach. "Hmm, you're right."
She then looked him in the eye. "Thanks.....er, can I have them back now?" Zippy asked, holding out her hand. She wanted to take a closer look at the shading.

"You gonna say you're sorry?" He offered another cheeky grin. Two for two today - the guy was unstoppable. "I mean, you can't just throw around threats like throwing me off the Brooklyn Bridge and expect me to not hand you off to the bulls." His eyes shone merrily. It was too easy, which didn't always come easy for Skittery, who clammed up around girls he didn't know.

"I was kidding!" She responded, flabbergasted. "Can't you take a joke?! My god, are you always this difficult?"
She paused, and blinked at him for a second. "Fine, I apologize for my empty, yet rather cruel, threat. Now your turn."

"And what am I supposed to apologize for?" Normally, he'd shrink at being deemed "difficult" by a pretty girl like this Zippy, but somehow it fueled his fire. "For coaxing an artist out of her shell? Oh yeah; I'm so ashamed." His voice softened, eyebrows raised earnestly. "Seriously. As far as I'm concerned, I got nothing to apologize for - well, except for holding your art hostage."

Zippy rolled her eyes, hardly believing this was happening. Usually this type of thing would really frustrate her, but as Zippy took a deep breath she realized she was feeling quite the opposite.
Entertained, Zippy cracked him a small smile. "You're ridiculous. And very rude. But honest, though. I like that." For someone as blunt as she was, she always appreciated those who could keep up. "You were in the middle of looking for a book, I'll let you get back to that." She reached for her art once again.

"I wasn't looking for anything specific." The words came out fast, defensively. "Er, I mean... I was only browsing, nothing special." He tipped his head in her direction, rocking a little on his feet. "Were you looking for anything important? 'Cause if you are, uh, y'know, I can get outta your way."

"No! Uh...no, I was just looking for a more...stimulating way to spend my time rather than shooting marbes in Greely Square," Zippy explained, shrugging her shoulders. "And I lost a bet to Race earlier in the week so I'm out any spare cash I was saving up to go to the Art Institute, thank goodness the library is free."

All this and she was avoiding Race just like he was? This was too good to be true. "Ain't that the truth." He leaned in a little, smirking secretively. "But, uh, just between you and me, I wish we could sneak into the art gallery. Maybe we can try it sometime - y'know, if that's something you might want to do." Not a DATE. Heavens no.

Zippy gave him an amused grin. "I've tried that before, it can't be done." This guy liked art THAT much? Zippy had no idea anyone but her in the lodging house had a passion for it.

"And I thought I couldn't get to look at your artwork," he reminded her casually, smirking. "Guess we both learned something new today." They could pace themselves, though; no sense in causing criminal activity when he hadn't known Zippy for even an hour. "Who's your favorite?" He nodded indicatively at the book of renowned artists.

Zippy thought for a moment, putting her hands into her pockets and leaning against a bookcase. "Picasso, maybe. I always feel something different when I look at his work. How about you?"

"I'm partial to the old stuff," he said, floundering somewhat. He never had to vocalize his preferences in art before, not to anyone, so it felt funny on the tip of his tongue. "Guess I'm learning a lot, too. I know what I like, anyway," he said, allowing a light chuckle to follow. Was Skittery... was Skittery being flirty?

Zippy gave him a friendly smile. "There are no rules in art, it's why I love it. You can be expressive and be free." she would actually love to go to the museum with skittery, just to hear his honest opinion, and to discuss the art in depth. She had never discussed art with anyone else before. It was exciting and intriguing.

"It's nice to know someone who knows what it's all about," he told her warmly. "Can't really talk to the rest of the lodging house about it, 'cause... y'know." He smirked. "Race would unnecessarily call me a softy, and you know how he doesn't let things go."

"Yeah, it ain't easy living in such close quarters with everyone all the time. Race and some of the other guys don't mean to be malicious about any of it, but after awhile the things they say do get under your skin." Zippy frowned, wondering if the teasing stopped Skittery from doing a lot of the things he wanted to do. "It's why I keep to myself a lot of the time," she added with a shrug.
