"She's sleeping, Alec," sighed Ershey, putting her hand over his. "She's fine."
"Did you feed her?" he asked, bending over to look at the sleeping Jo. Within seconds of looking at her, Jo blinked open her eyes, smiled and reached out for Risk.
"Geez. How'd she do that?" muttered Ershey, confused.
"She just likes me better," smirked Risk, picking up Jo and walking over to the pair. "Hey, Mush."

Risk shrugged. "Could be better... I'll, uh, let you guys know about the plan when everything's set." He hated how awkward he felt around the both of them.

"Well... you guys are trying, at least," sighed Ershey, once Risk was gone.

Mush frowned. "Hey, I'm really trying! I can't help it that I can't turn my feelings around in a couple days." He resisted the urge to tell her he had actually been right about Risk. There had been something about him he hadn't trusted.
