"Now, Sugar, I didn't say it wasn't interestin'. It is. But your interest goes way beyond anything normal." He wrinkled his nose at her, then smirked. "I had a great uncle who fought. My granddad was too young, but he had an older brother. I'm named after 'im."

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure you've told me that before," she said quickly, basically waving it off. "And it doesn't, though! I mean...there's just so much about the whole thing that's not fully resolved! Did you know the Russians claimed they had a piece of Hitler's skull, but it actually turned out to be a woman's? And there's also a theory that some crazy plastic surgeon made four body doubles for Hitler, and they went through, like, hardcore training to become just like him. I don't know if I believe that, though..."
Okay, so maybe she was obsessed. Whatever!

He just shook his head, chuckling at her excitement. "Sugar, yer somethin' else, ya know it? From what my family told me, it wasn't near as excitin' to live through it as it is to look back on it. Ya know that uncle a' mine never married? Granddad said he was never the same after he came back from the war."

"Well, war is a life-changing event, y'know. I'm sure he just never found the right girl." Rose shrugged, leaning back against the couch to make herself more comfortable. "And I think you're wrong about it not being as exciting to live through."

He shrugged. "I dunno, Rosie. War ain't as easy as the books make it look after."

"You just have no imagination, that's all," Rose informed him, smirking over at him. She pulled her feet away from his lap, then got off the couch entirely, sitting back down on the floor in front of him. She pulled her mass of curls to one side, clearly indicating he should rub her shoulders now instead of her feet.

He nearly snorted, but rubbed her back because he wanted to touch her. "Oh, I have lots of imagination, Sugar. Trust me."

Rose let out a very satisfied sounding moan as Tyler began working through all the knots in her shoulders.
"You know I only keep you around because you have magic hands, right?"

He smirked. "Well, can't think why else ya'd ever want me around." Inside, though, he was groaning over the fact that if he could actually use his hands on her...oh, boy.

Rose pulled her knees up to her chest, hugging them and setting her chin atop them. She knew she was lucky to have a friend as amazing as Tyler. He actually listened to her, and he never let her down.
"If only I had a time machine. I could prove you wrong, Tyler McGowan. And I could meet your great uncle!"

He smirked. "Well, apparently, my uncle was quite a looker, so I dunno how I feel about that." And truth be told, he looked just liked him.

Rose gasped dramatically. "Maybe I'm the girl he never found!"

Tyler arched a brow. "Seriously, Rose? You'll date my dead great-uncle, but won't date me?"

Rose let out a snort of a laugh. "Come on, Tyler! Why would we ever date? We're like brother and sister, practically!"

He was really glad she was on the floor with her back to him, because he winced. He felt her statement all the way to his gut. "Right. Brother and sister." Fuck. He went back to rubbing her shoulders, swallowing roughly.
