"Well, I rented her from the stables down the way. She's not mine," she said, frowning a bit. She had been a good horse. But she couldn't afford to keep her.

"Ah..." Jack nodded, "Well you can ride Midnight back to my house. He'll be good, I promise."

She mounted her horse and started riding back to the stables. Once she'd turned her in to the owner, she went back out to meet Jack, her pack slung over her shoulder.

Jack took the pack from her and then kept his horse steady for her to get on him. "You better be good," He said to his horse, who just glanced at him, seemingly annoyed.

Once she got up in the saddle, she scooted up as far as she could. "Come on, it's silly for you to walk. There's plenty of room up here."

Jack hopped up behind her and then kissed her cheek. "Alright I'll tell you where to go from here."

She smiled to herself and followed his directions. She loved the feeling of his hands on her waist, her back against his chest.

Jack was a little worried at her reaction to his house. He'd never really brought anyone there before, although everyone in the town knew where he lived.

When Jack told her to stop, she gazed up at the house. "Jack, this is huge... You live here all by yourself?"

She waited for him to get off the horse before jumping off herself. "If you tell me where the stables are, I can take Midnight there and get him settled in."

"They're around to the right, back that way," He pointed and then dismounted. He held out his hand to help her off the horse.

She landed right in front of him, still holding onto his hand. She looked up into his eyes, finding it kind of hard to breath being this close to him, face to face.

Jack smiled down at her and then kissed her softly. "I'll show you where the stables are."

"Okay," she whispered. She followed him to the stables on shaky legs, just barely holding onto the reins. She wondered if her bedroom in the house was near Jack's. If so, that was trouble waiting to happen.
