"Oh, Mike, I'm am so, so sorry about my dad!" She threw herself at him, burying her face in his chest.

He bent down and scooped her into his arms, carrying her back to his car. "Not your fault, baby," he said casually. Not to say his feelings hadn't been hurt, but he didn't want to let Maggie know that just yet. Or ever.

She sniffled into the crook of his neck. "He's just...it's just been us two for like 6 years, and he's kind of overprotective. But he means well, honest! And I know he'll love you! He just...he just needs to get over the emotions over this first."

"I believe you," he assured her before setting her down by the passenger side door. He opened it for her, and when she got on, he made his way over to the driver side. After sitting down, he turned toward her. "Sorry for blurting it out like that... I kinda panicked."

Maggie couldn't help but smirk at him. "So, then, you can understand why my father basically freaked out." She leaned forward, putting her forehead on his shoulder. "What about your parents? They didn't really say anything..."

"I have no idea... You usually can't get them to shut up, so I don't know if I should be concerned that they barely said a word..." he started the car and drove back to Maggie's apartment.

Once they were back in her room, she took off the cap and gown, changing out of her dress into pajamas. She grumbled when she had to loosen the tie at the waistband.
"Maybe you should call them? Check on them?"

He nodded before taking out his phone and heading out into the living area. He talked to them for five minutes or so before hanging up and rejoining Maggie in her room. "They're all right. Just a little shocked. My sisters are ecstatic, though..."

Maggie was laying in bed when he came back in, and she propped herself up on an elbow. "Really? They're...happy? About this?"

"Are you kidding? They're teenage girls. They can't wait to buy baby clothes and shit." He chuckled as he sat down on the bed, his mind racing with everything that had happened.

She looked up at him, putting a hand to his arm gently. "Everything's gonna work out, okay. Daddy's gonna try to talk you into marrying me, but you don't have to."

To be honest, Michael always got a little nervous when anyone brought up marriage. He was still young... Not that he didn't want to marry Maggie...eventually. "Hey, I found this great place for us in a really nice neighborhood, and it's close to the stadium, so my commute won't be too bad..."

Maggie sat up a little, leaning back on her elbows. "A place? For us..?" She blinked at him. "You--you wanna move in together?"

Oh, that's right. They hadn't exactly talked about it yet. "Well yeah... Do you...not want to?"

Maggie smiled a little. He always looked so cute when he got stuttery and nervous. "Of course I want to." She sighed a little, sitting up further and pressing her cheek to his shoulder. "I love you, Mike. I want us to--to be a family...ya know..?"
