She rolled her eyes and had to chuckle. They were both being ridiculous at this point. "All right, seriously. What's going on with you? Anything interesting?" Her dance moves got a little smoother as she stopped obsessing over them and managed to relax a little.

"Nothing really... well, there is this thing that I'm supposed to be helping Goblin with... something about the Refuge? Heard anything about it?" he asked, wondering if she was roped into Goblin's scheming as well.

She shook her head. "I've heard all sorts of crazy stuff about this Goblin kid from you and Ershey, but I'm pretty sure I've never said a word to the guy. You can ask him, I'm sure he'd remember if I had." She smirked. "So what's this thing you're helping with?"

((Is this happening before or after they're living together? Just wanna make sure before Risk tells her about Eastman!))

((I was about to ask the same thing! Wanna say after, just so we don't have to worry about the whole 'wait, that hasn't happened yet' issue?))

((Okay!))
"Eastman apparently took over the Refuge... and Goblin wants to, uh, investigate? Rat him out? I don't know... they're obviously using my connections from before," he answered, shrugging.

"So what are you gonna do?" she asked, twirling herself away from him and then back into his arms. This really wasn't as hard as she'd feared. In fact, the 'ending up back in his arms' part was the hardest. Just keep talking, Liz, and you can get through this without making a damn fool of yourself.

Risk couldn't help but bite back a smile as Macbeth twirled back into him. Maybe sober dancing wasn't so bad.
"Go undercover with Sapphy. Get information. Y'know, the usual," he smirked, shrugging.

She stared at him, her left eyebrow doing its usual dance of skepticism. "You're going undercover with Sapphy?" Beth liked Sapphy. Hell, Sapphy was the first person she bonded with in the whole lodging house, and one of the very few people who ever stood up for her. But she knew what Sapphy had been like lately. Everyone knew. The poor girl could barely even leave the bunkroom.
Then her eyes narrowed as a more pertinent question occurred to her. "Going undercover where?"

"At the Refuge... go back to Eastman," said Risk uncertainly as he looked at Macbeth. He remembered how she reacted the last time he'd mentioned Eastman. He wasn't too sure if telling her about the Refuge was a good idea at all.

Now she was just confused. "The Refuge? Wait, is that why Goblin and Script got arrested?" She'd heard rumors about that. Rumors that ended nastily. "What good's it gonna do if you and Sapphy go right back in?" To her credit, she didn't miss a dance step even as she pondered the insanity of this plan.

"We'll basically get them both from the inside and outside," replied Risk as he continued to move to the music. "Then again, I haven't seen Sapphy at all... I might just go in there myself. It could be easier too, there'd be less suspicions..."

"So," Macbeth said in a kind of frighteningly calm voice, swaying gently as the music slowed down, "you're doing something shady involving Five Points, and you didn't think to maybe let me in on it?" She cocked her head. "'Course, I don't know Sapphy that well. Maybe she lived in the Points for fourteen years. Maybe she talks and acts like a gangster and knows how to throw a punch and handle a switchblade. In that case, by all means, take Sapphy with you. Or go by yourself, 'cause God knows you don't attract trouble everywhere you go."

Risk stared at Macbeth before he broke into a smile. "Are you saying you want to come with me, Beth?"

"'Course I wanna come with you," she scoffed. "You think I wanna get stuck paying full rent?"
