She blinked open her eyes, staring up at him. "Did--did I do something wrong?"

"No..." he said, his voice trailing. He just didn't want to get too involved emotionally. "I just realized I'm starving... Wanna get something to eat?"

She stared at him, confused. "Seriously? You've got a girl underneath you and you think of food?" Jesus, was she that bad??

He sighed, sitting up and raking a hand through his hair. "Script, come on. I just don't wanna go too far..."

She sat up, blinking. "Wait. Lemme get this straight. You don't want to go to far, so you want to take me to dinner? ...Skitts, I don't think you understand this whole 'friends with benefits' thing very well..."

"I don't wanna take you to dinner. I just wanna go to Tibby's and have dinner with a friend. Who pays for herself," he said, furrowing his brow at her. He wasn't stupid! Most of the time.

She sighed a little. Well, she asked for a distraction. "Okay. Tibby's." She shifted away from him to get off the couch.

He started to feel bad, but then he stopped himself. He didn't want to feel bad because that meant he was feeling too much. And that went against the 'friends with benefits' idea. She was his friend, and nothing more.
He stood up and grabbed his hat, setting it atop his head before heading toward the front door.

She followed after him. So far, this plan of hers was more or less failing miserably. When they got to Tibby's she slid into the booth, sitting across from him.

Well, now, this was just awkward. He had no idea what to say, and she looked like she was in a completely bad mood - something he was often accused of.
"So..."

She sighed, then smiled at him. "Sorry, Skittery. About before. I guess you just caught me off-guard. I thought you were liking it, and then you just...stopped." She blushed, playing with her napkin.

He straightened up, leaning his forearms on the table as he looked at her. "No, I was liking it. I just... We just met earlier today..."

"So?" She bit her lip. "We're not..I mean..you don't have to, like, woo me or anything, Skitts..."

He laughed, shaking his head slowly. "I'm not trying to woo. Believe me, if I were, you would know." He shrugged, glancing over at her before staring down at the table. "It's just been a while..."
((Okay, I gotta actually get dressed so I can go vote. I'll be back on later!))

((Haha, okay, bye!))
She nodded, chewing on her lip. "Well, if you don't want to...we don't have to..." It's not like she wasn't used to total rejection, anyway.
