She jumped a bit before turning around to face him, her cheeks tinged with red. "No, I just like the smell of it all, the warmth..." she shrugged, running a finger down the leaf of one plant. "I don't feel so alone in here for some reason." That sounded crazy.

"I know what you mean. This was my mother's favorite place in the whole house." he said, stepping inside.

She nodded, not quite looking at him. Then she turned around to look out the window. Immediately a gasp escaped from her mouth. "Oh, it's snowing," she whispered as she watched fat, pure white snowflakes falling through the air.

Jimmy couldn't help it, he stepped up behind Rose, resting his hand on her shoulder and peering out the window. "I love the snow."

"As do I... My family and I, we always go sledding and make snow angels and whatnot," she told him, a hint of sadness in her voice. She had a great many aunts and uncles and cousins that she usually spent Christmas with. But not this year. She missed them terribly.

"You can invite them if you'd like. There's plenty of room here for them to stay as long as they like." he smiled down at her. "It will definitely make this Christmas far more lively."

"My lord, are...are you sure? There are quite a lot of them. And none of them are of noble blood..." In other words, they were all commoners, working people. Just like her.

"That doesn't bother me my lady," Jimmy said. "At least the house will be cheerful."

She bit her lip to suppress a smile, then went on her toes to place a soft, grateful kiss on his cheek.
"Thank you, my lord. I shall go write to them now," she stated before turning on her heel and heading to her chambers. She was pretty sure she knew where they were.

Jimmy cleared his throat, "you're welcome." he said to her retreating form and then smiled. She was going to make him completely crazy.

Rose spent the rest of the evening writing furiously to all twenty of her relatives. She just hoped they would get these letters in time to be there for Christmas.
Once she was finished, it was almost midnight. But there was still a servant roaming the halls to whom she could give the letters. She was assured they would be sent first thing in the morning. Now Rose could go to sleep with a smile on her face.

Jimmy did not go to her room that evening and spent the night in his own rooms. The following morning he was in his study reviewing the accounts and taking inventory of what they would need for the coming holidays.

Rose was again exploring the vast place she now called home. She opened a door and peeked inside, immediately blushing when she saw Jimmy in there working.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you...I was just looking around..."

He looked up and smiled, "No, that's alright. Come in," he said to her. "I was just wondering what supplies we needed for the Christmas feast."

She bit her lip but entered the room anyways. This was all still a bit awkward, and she didn't know how to tell him...well, anything. She closed the door behind her, then leaned back against it, gazing around.
