"I don't think I'm much of the pouting type," said Sammie, following her closely behind. She glanced at the newsies bustling around the distribution center. It wasn't that much different from what she was used to... they just looked happier. She figured it was because they didn't go around killing people.

((Haha, I love her.))
"You could try a more aggressive approach," Wraith suggested timidly as she got in line. "I mean...most people yell a lot."

Sammie's brows furrowed. "Does that work?" She just imagined them running away from her.

"Depends on whether you yell something interesting," Wraith explained as the line moved along. "You know about 'improving' the headlines? Throwing in sex and murder and scandal wherever you can?"

Sammie scoffed. "Sounds like Five Points to me."

She smiled. "Good rule of thumb. Make every headline sound like it came out of Five Points." The line moved along until she reached the counter and bought her stack of fifty papes.

((I'M HOME EARLY TODAY. WHEE.))
Sammie smirked, now amused by the thought of selling points. "That shouldn't be too bad," she chuckled, walking up and asking for fifty papes as well.

((YAY! ) "A bold move," Wraith said with a smile when she heard how many Sammie bought. She led the way down the street, scanning the headlines and then the crowd, and approached a few potential customers. Her method was always about the same: walk up to them, head bowed, hugging her papers against her chest, and then dramatically raise her sad, haunted grey eyes and give them a pleading look. She'd sold five or six papes in no time, and headed back toward Sammie to see how she was doing.

Sammie yelled the headlines as if she was telling a story. She shouted about Eastman, about the drama that happened in the gang and combined it with the headlines she found in the paper. She changed the names, of course -- the last thing she needed was to have someone from Five Points recognize her and figure out what she was talking about.
"Hey, look, I can do this!" said Sammie once she spotted Clara.

Wraith smiled brightly at her. "Now, if only you'd figured that out a few years ago, you wouldn't've had to--" She noticed the crowd. "Uh, sweep streets all this time."

Sammie's attitude immediately changed. She narrowed her eyes at Clara and her smile fell. "Right."

Wraith gave her a timid, thoughtful look before selling a few more papers. "If it upsets you, you ought to talk about it," she said softly.

"I don't just talk about my business 'cause I'm upset," she muttered, selling a couple more papers.

"I do," Wraith admitted frankly. "I won't say a word to anyone about anything most of the time, but if I bottle it up too long, I end up, well..." Getting drunk, forcibly kissing my childhood girlfriend, yelling at cops in alleys, sobbing in strangers' arms... "It all just comes rushing out," she finished, widening her eyes at a passing lady who clucked sympathetically and gave her a nickel.

"What, are you trying to warn me?" she muttered, looking at her in confusion.
