Zippy placed her one bag of belongings on her new bed, glancing around her new small room. It was all hers. It was unbelievable, actually, how broke she now was from it, but it was worth it. Their small tenement was actually quite charming, and they were lucky they found it. Eli and Luke's room was only slightly bigger, and the main room and living room area was pretty much bare.
"Check this out!" Luke announced, as him and Eli arrived back from work. Zip went out to the living room to see they were schleping in a couch and a chair.
"You bought furniture? This looks expensive!" She gasped, touching the couch as Eli and Luke placed it in the middle.
"We...didn't buy it," Luke replied, biting his lip and glancing at Eli. Eli only smirked, and shrugged.
"Don't ask questions. We needed a couch, I got us a couch." Eli said, smiling at his sister. Zippy raised an eyebrow, then sighed. "David's on his way over. No talk of....whatever it is that you did to get this couch."

Not long after they put the couch in order, David came up the stairs. He was glad the building looked safe and relatively clean. It made him feel better about Zippy moving in with Eli and Luke. Well. A little better, anyway.
He knocked on the door, holding a small bouquet of flowers for Zippy, and a wrapped gift box.

Zippy gave a warning look at Eli. "Be nice." Eli grinned and settled happily into the new couch. He was gonna find Zippy more furnature- a nice rug, a dresser, maybe even some shelves. He was determined.
Zippy opened the door, and beamed at David. "I told you the building was close to yours! Like a 5 minute walk, right?" She stepped aside so he could come in.

He nodded, leaning in to kiss her before stepping inside and glancing around. It was...okay. Better than he expected. "These are for you." He held out the flowers. "The box is from Mom."

"Your...your mom? Really?" She thought Ester Jacobs hated her. Zippy took both the things and closed the door behind David.
Eli grinned at Dave. "Hey Loverboy, what do you think of the place?"

"It's not bad, Eli. I am genuinely surprised at your success." He smirked, but his eyes were dancing good-naturedly.
The box was sizable, and heavier than it looked. "Go ahead and open it, Zip." Inside was a hodge-podge of items, and a handwritten note to explain each thing:
- A small loaf of bread -- "so that you may never go hungry" - A box of salt -- "so that life may always have flavor" - A jar of honey -- "so that life may always be sweet" - A feather duster -- "so that you can sweep your troubles away" - A candle -- "so you'll always have light to banish away dark times" - and A few coins -- "for prosperity and luck"

Zippy's eyes began to water as she sorted through the items. "Oh my gosh, Dave, I thought your mom hated me!"
Eli stood up and glanced through the items as well. "Honey! Score."

David moved to wrap his arms around her from behind. "She doesn't hate you. She said it was an Austrian tradition to get this stuff for people when they move into a new home." He kissed her hair, nuzzling her gently, then smirked. "And I think she's just grateful you didn't get an apartment with me."

"Now why would I do that?" Zippy joked, kissing him. "Well...I should go over there and tell her thank you."

He shook his head. "Eventually. Tonight, I want it to just be us awhile." He hadn't really been able to spend alone time with her in ages. He missed her.

Eli made a face, he didn't wanna sit around and listen to anything that might come from those two- giggles, moans, grunts, the works. "C'mon Luke! Let's go get a drink and see about that dresser!" he dragged Luke out.
Zippy smiled at David and brought him to her room. "It's small, but the bed is perfect. And its really all I need."

It occurred to David that, aside from one nap at his place, they'd never really been in a bed together. "I like it. You'll make it yours, in time. Decorate it and stuff."

"Well, I got one thing to hang up....I wish I had colors for it, but it's good enough for now," Zippy said, blushing a bit as she pulled a picture she sketched out of her bag and tacked it on the bare wall. She had actually spent a lot of time on it, especially because it completely came out of her brain. It was of her and David, all smiles, with her on his lap. It wasn't perfect- Zippy had actually started it and tossed it away at least a hundred times, but it was something.
"I'm still not satisfied with your face, but it'll be fine." It was taken from her memory, after all. She could do a better job if he was sitting there in front of her.

He stopped, staring at it. "Zip...sweetie, that's amazing." He turned to her, smiling. "You're amazing."

Zippy grew red in the face again. "Well, its not amaz-" she cleared her throat. "Thank you. You're amazing too."
