Zippy smiled. "alright. If you say so." she finished off her dinner and placed her plate on the coffee table and then continued to drink her wine.
Luke rolled his eyes, shaking his head. "Behave, you two. Eli quit playing with your food!" but he was laughing, and kissed Charlotte's cheek.
"don't encourage me, Luke!" Eli scooped up more potatoes and flung them at Luke, hitting him in the face.

Trixie gasped, then gave Eli a reproachful look. "No food fights! Zippy worked hard on this, and if you get anything on my dress I will kill you."

David smiled. "We'll celebrate all the holidays, when we get married and have kids and stuff."
Trixie yelped and got up. "Nope, not gonna be a part of this." She moved away and to the kitchen pouring another glass of wine.

Zippy smiled at him. "Why wait for kids? We can start celebrating all of 'em now. I'm gonna get you very drunk on New Years Eve."
Charlotte begged Luke to stop, and he did, glaring at Eli. "Sorry baby" he kissed her. Eli cleaned off the rest of his plate and wrapped his arms around Trixie from behind.

Trixie giggled and turned around in his arms, looping her arms around his neck. "I know. It's why I love ya so damn much, Eli." She blushed a little, despite herself.

David brushed his thumb along her cheek, his voice equally soft. "Don't say that, sweetie. You were always amazing, special. If anything, you saved me. From myself."
Trixie bit her lip, leaning back against the counter, trying to look casual. "You, uh...ya got anything to say to me..?"

Trixie tried very hard not to look upset. So, she'd professed her love for him and gotten zilch in return. No big deal! Right... She put on a bright smile to hide the hurt. "Sure, we can go dancin'."

Eli hesitated for a moment, not wanting to ruin the nice night. He took his arms and wrapped them around her. "I've never felt this way about anyone before. All I want for Chanukah is you. You're the greatest gift I'd ever coulda dreamed for," he whispered, his mouth at her ear. he squeezed her tight to him.

Trixie's heart melted in her chest and she held him tightly, closing her eyes. Hearing him say that was enough...for now, anyway. "Eli, I--" she took a breath, murmuring against his neck. "I'm real glad I met you, Eli."
