Zippy hesitated, and nodded, drinking the tea. "I can't keep anything down. I'll die if I don't get better." And the dramatics were over. She was serious.

He gave her a worried look. "Mom said you'd be like this a couple days. But it'll get better, I swear. Drink more tea." He reached a hand out, rubbing her back.

"It was....interesting. Having your mom take care of me. It felt good," she admitted, with a sigh. "Even though it was embarrassing."

He smiled at her. "Mom likes you, Erin, I swear she does."

"No she doesn't. Don't lie to me, David." Zippy stared down at her tea, frowning. "Especially not anymore."

He sighed. "I'm not lying. She's worried about you. About your choices. But she likes you. And she knows you make me happy."

Zippy glanced at him. "Do all mothers know things? You...took me to your mom right away. And you keep saying she says i'll get better..."

He blushed. "Mom's raised three kids. I figure she knows what she's talking about." And he trusted her.

He smiled at her. "You'll be like that one day. When we have kids."

She shook her head, sipping her tea. "Maybe. I don't know how to be a mother, David. I will never be as wonderful as her."

He leaned down to kiss her shoulder. "You're still young. It's one of those 'learn on the job' kinda things. There's no one on the planet I'd rather have kids with."

Zippy smirked at him. "You say that now. But what happens when you go to college and meet intelligent girls?"

He frowned a little. "I already have an intelligent girl. And an artistic one to boot."

"Yeah, but not intelligent enough to get into art school," Zippy sighed, finishing off her tea.
