"No, no, no, no. Tyler, it's not that," she said, scooting close to him and putting a hand on his arm. "It's not. I love you. And I know I want to marry you. I just wish..." She let out a frustrated sigh. "I wish I had never met Michael!"

He sighed. "Well, ya did, Sugar. And we can't pretend otherwise." He turned back to her, brushing his thumb along her cheek. "We'll wait until yer comfortable. Don't worry about that."

"I'm sorry," she said softly. "I shouldn't care what other people will think... I really hate complicated situations like this."

He gathered her into his arms, kissing her hair. "Don't worry about it, sweetheart. We'll figure it out. We'll talk to yer folks, see what they say."

"You...you are so amazing," she said, repeating her phrase from earlier. "You know that?"

He kissed her temple, rubbing her back. "Ya make it easy for me to be, Rosie."

"Let's go home," she said softly, sighing. "And have some lasagna." That sounded pretty awesome right now.

He nodded, kissing her again. Then pulled back and drove home, holding her hand.

The next few weeks were heavenly, to say the least. Rose and Tyler were inseparable, except for work, and even once Tyler surprised Rose at work during his lunch hour. Her kids had talked about it for the rest of the week. But, more importantly, they had done it in every room of the apartment. Including the closet.
Then, there was finally a weekend when they were both free to go to the ranch. Rose couldn't help but be nervous.

He brought her hand up to his lips as he drove his truck into the gravel driveway, kissing her knuckles. "Relax, Sugar. What're ya so nervous about, huh?"

"I don't know," she began, shaking her head and laughing softly. "Maybe...the fact that I haven't told them we're together..."

He let out a sigh. "Rose," he put the truck in park. "I thought you were gonna do that ages ago."

"I like to tell them things in person!" she countered, furrowing her brow. "Besides, I'm sure they'll figure it out the moment we walk in."

He sighed. "Ya better hope so, Sugar. 'Cause otherwise, this is gonna be real awkward." He got out of the truck, then helped her down before grabbing their bags.

Rose was right. The second they walked in, her mom was beaming. "I knew it. Didn't I tell you?" she said to Rose's father. "Oh, this is wonderful!" She hugged Rose first, then Tyler. And she whispered in his ear, "I told you to have a little faith, didn't I?"
