Tristan rolled his eyes. "fine. You want something to drink?" he asked her, coming down the stairs,
"I need one." he sighed heavily. "while you were gone we had the talk."

"Yes. And....yeah?" She followed him to his bar. "What did you talk about with him?"

Tristan poured her a glass of wine and then one for himself, he sat down in his favorite chair and took a sip.
"Bout how his mom wasn't coming home, that she had an accident. That he was gonna live here with me now." he looked down into his glass and took another gulp. "he just cried and cried."

"Shit," Erin replied, sitting down on the couch. "Who is making her funeral arrangements? I mean, I guess I could do it..." Erin frowned, taking a sip of her wine.

"Her mom is, we had a nice talk tonight actually." he smiled sadly. "she wants him to stay here with me, she thinks it would be good for the both of us and then she told me I looked like shit and needed a burger,"

Erin chuckled and ran a hand through her hair. "You realize you can't be the same guy you were, right? You can't party every night, the drugs...the women. Oh god, Tristan, you gotta be careful bringing women here now."

"I know." he said calmly and then finished his wine, looking up at her. "and I don't care. I'm done with it."

Erin swirled the wine in her glass. "I hope you mean that." She glanced at him. It was sort of weird being this...alone with him. But also kind of nice, which scared the crap out of her.

"I can't be that person anymore, if I keep it up I'll be dead in a year. He needs me even of he don't care about me at all he needs somebody," Tristan said and then sighed heavily.
"I could never count on no one and look what happened to me."

Erin finished her wine. "Oh come on. I will not pitty you. You haven't seen my studio apartment! You have a great life, you just need to figure out what you want from it....everyone wants to be you."

"they want to be what I let then see, Erin. Nobody wants to be the junkie who can't sleep at night. I've been alone since I'm sixteen, sleeping in crack dens. This was all I cared about and now I got more. He's up there and I'm finally sober enough to realize it."
"you don't even know me...I thought you did," he filled up another glass of wine. "And don't bitch about your apartment I pay you damn good money."

Okay, so it was true. She blew most of her money on a nice car and expensive jewelry, purses, and clothes. She just figured that by now, she'd have a man to buy a nice apartment with...
"How could I know you? Nobody does. You keep everyone at a distance. And it wasn't like you were trying to be best friends with me. I know you have issues, Tristan, I'm just saying you should count your damn blessings."

"I'm starting to," he said and then got up from the chair he was sitting in. "I don't know anybody who would stick by me like you have."

"You just haven't met her yet. I mean, you are like every girl's wet dream. That's a start." Erin told him, getting up and refilling her wine glass.

Tristan laughed, "Oh really?" he was intrigued.
