She lifted a shoulder. "That'd be okay. But don't expect to work miracles." She smirked a little, petting Pookie before walking back out to her car and getting in.

She smirked, but didn't look at him as she pulled out and drove back to the school. "Well, I figured if I didn't do it, Josephine Allan would, and then I'd never sleep with you."

"Aww, you are so helpful," Eli answered, laughing. they finally pulled up to his van at school. "See you around. Thanks for the honest welcome." He told her, getting out of the car and winking at her.

She nodded, then hesitated before driving away, rolling down the window. "Hey, Eli? Come over tomorrow. So you can help me with my chem homework." She tried to look casual, but the truth was, she didn't want to be alone in the house again. Nora always left after dinner.

"right. your 'chem homework', sure." He replied, putting air quotes over chem homework. "We'll see." He didn't want to tell her he had a court hearing. But he didn't want to tell her no, either.

Eli waved and drove off.
The next morning, even though Natalie put effort into hiding the fact that her and Eli hung out, somebody saw them and gossip began spreading. Word got out, and Eli was sitting outside before class and multiple girls came over to introduce themselves. Even during lunch, a couples guys invited him to sit with them at their table.

Natalie was annoyed by all of it. She had liked the idea of hiding him, of keeping him all to herself. She also hated all the questions people asked her, so she gave noncommittal answers and glared a lot.
By the time after school rolled around, she felt pissy as hell and wanted to go home. She stalked to her car, digging in her purse for her keys.

"So tell us Eli, why'd you get expelled from your last school?" Taylor Hicks asked Eli, who was leaning against his van talkin to a group of them.
"I was having an affair with my Spanish teacher," Eli replied, laughing.
"No REALLY. tell us!" another girl piped up, reaching for his arm.
"Okay fine, it was the Spanish teacher AND my math teacher. It was a mess." Eli replied smoothly, smirking at them. The girls laughed, and Eli saw Natalie. He waved at her.
