"HEY. That's what everyone thought of you about the strike, and look how that turned out!" Spot pointed out, taking out his slingshot and practicing his aim.

Jack turned to Race, he needed an opinion on this and fast.
"So we let 'em come down from the Bronx through my territory and send a runner your way to warn you?" He looked at Race again, the whole plan sounded screwy.

"The strike was about yelling and waving signs and maybe getting thrown in the Refuge. This is about people dying, Spot," Race said bluntly. He was always blunt with Spot, which was a good part of the reason their relationship was such a seesaw. "An all-out clash between Brooklyn and the Bronx...it's gonna be a bloodbath, whoever wins. Have you thought about at least trying to talk with 'em? Whatever Sammy offered 'em, you might be able to sweeten the pot."
There was another option here that might help Brooklyn prevail, but he didn't think Jack would like it, and he didn't like it, so he wasn't going to bring it up just yet. He found himself fervently wishing Raven were here.

"Unless I'm offering them my girlfriend, Bronx will never back down," Spot replied firmly, seeing no other way. Both Sammy and Hunter had it coming.

Race glanced at Tristan, wondering whether this were an established fact or part of Spot's paranoia, and then at Jack, who would definitely be having final say over the other option. "Then we could go with your plan, only send you all the guys we can spare to help you hold Brooklyn. Older guys, obviously. We'd have to leave some behind to guard the little ones, in case..." He didn't even want to say it, but the possibility was there. "...in case Sammy and Hunter send anyone to hassle Duane Street."
It wasn't that Race wanted Manhattan to fight. It was that he wasn't sure Brooklyn could win without them, certainly not without heavy losses, and Race still had one foot in Brooklyn.

"I'll send some of the birds to Manhattan to keep an eye on you guys from the rooftops, that way you'll always know someone is looking out." Tristan said, he glanced at Race, hoping that he knew that what Spot said was true. Hunter would never back down without Raven and that was probably exactly what Sammy had offered him.

"It don't seem like we really have any other options...the birds would help. I still don't like it. Hunter ain't exactly known for mercy ya know? We'll have to take him out for good this time." Jack said matter of factly, it left a sour taste in his mouth, talking about death.

"Get offa me!" Raven bellowed, shoving a fully grown Brooklyn Newsie off of her, glaring as she marched her way down the dock.
"I tried, Spot! I couldn't hold her off."
"I tried..." She mimicked, Raven waltz herself right up beside Spot and looked up at him glaring. "Don't talk to me."
((I got the impression that Spot would have tried anyway possible to keep Rae out of this. LOL))

"Any of us or just Spot?" Race asked, relieved to finally see her.

"Who do you think?" She snapped. Raven took a step away from Spot.
"I get the feeling that you've come to a decision that you don't like very much."

"There is...there is something else we can do," Spot began, but hesitated to go much further with Raven there, even though it seemed that Jack and Race were both happy to see her.
"Tristan," Spot said, gesturing for him to come closer and whispered something in his ear. If he revealed their relationship with Bruno out loud, all hell could break lose. But if they simply order Hunter and Sammy dead, and let the big guys handle it, would that solve all their problems? Nobody innocent in the way, just the two main guys causing problems being wiped out. And it wasn't like him and Tristan would get themselves into any trouble they weren't already in. He raised his eyebrow at Tristan. "It could work."

"Yea, but then we'd owe them an even bigger favor, do you really wanna do that Spot?" Tristan whispered back to him, stroking his chin. Chances are Tristan would be stuck working for Bruno for the next fucking decade if they asked him to do this for them.

"Who are you talking about?" Raven asked, crossing her arms.
"We don't need anymore trouble then we already got, one thing always leads to another. If we try to take the easy way out chances are it's gonna come back to bite us on the ass."

This was why he kept Tristan around. "Not necessarily. We should....we should go see him. In person." He muttered back to him. Manhattan would be happy, nobody in Brooklyn would get hurt, and Hunter/Sammy would see that Spot Conlon has friends, too.
"But I guess," Spot said out loud to the group, "We could go the Bronx and try talking to them....and by we, I mean us and not you Raven."

"You'd have to drag me three by my hair to get me to set foot in that borough." She said.
