"Make that two," Spot said from behind her, dropping fifty cents on the counter and nodding to the bartender, who promptly filled a drink for Spot.

Raven practically choked on her drink. She should have known. They always know where she is, always. Except if she went down to Little Italy, they might never find her. She could disappear, wrap her hair in a scarf and go all the way to old Italia...but she wouldn't go. Who was she kidding?
She slowly turned around to face him. Spot was short, but Rae was shorter and she still had to tilt her head up to look at him.
"Heya," She held her glass in her hand and smirked.

Spot knew Rae well enough to not start scolding her, especially in public. But he couldn't help it, and slowly took a sip of his drink to organize his thoughts.
"I woulda gone out with you to get a drink, Rae. You didn't have to come alone." There. Now THAT was well stated. Spot found it so easy to boss everyone around, and he knew that was partially what attracted Raven to him in the first place.

"Well, I had no idea when you'd be back...you haven't been home all that much ya know?" There was a slightly accusatory tone to her voice. She knew not to take it too far in public. They were constantly playing this game, this tug of war instead of being honest. Why couldn't she just tell him that she knew Tristan had been following her and got pissed and decided to get drunk?

"But you don't need me telling you how stupid it is for you to be out by yourself at night, especially at a bar," Spot responded calmly, taking a seat on one of the bar stools. "And you knew what you were getting yourself into when you decided to be with me. I'm the leader, I got stuff to do. I can't always be with you."

Raven smirked up at him, "but honey, we both know im not here alone." She frowned and then narrowed her eyes. "Half of fucking brooklyn knows im in this bar!" She was tired of playing nice.

"There's no one on you Rae!" Spot snapped, slamming down his empty glass. He could already feel the whiskey affecting him. "I found you here because I know you so goddamn well!"
Even Spot wasn't completely convinced by that. Sure, he traveled here on his own to find Raven, but if she wasn't here, with an easy snap of his fingers he could find out exactly where she had gone. But the words were still true.
"I'm just trying to protect you," He continued, looking into her eyes.

"Well you gotta stop! It's making me crazy!" She bellowed and pushed him away from her. "You're suffocating me!" She picked up the drink and downed it in one sip.
"You can watch me all you want, you can trail me wherever I go, but if something bad's gonna happen, its gonna happen. Nobody can stop it, Spot." Raven pointed at him, she knew she was going to blow her top, she knew everyone was staring, but what else was knew? They all said she was crazy. Well you'd be crazy too if some of the things that had happened to Rae happened to you.

Spot hated it when she yelled at him in public. He heard men barking at him "Shut your lady up!" and "Get that drunk wench outta here!" He stared at Raven for a second, feeling his temper start to fume.
"You SON OF A BITCH!" Spot shouted, suddenly turning around and throwing himself at the old drunk who called Raven a wench. He punched him hard , and the guy fell off his stool.

"Who're you telling to shut up!?" Raven screamed and glass still in hand, slammed her fist down over the guys head, the glass shattering. He looked bewildered at first and then he leapt to his feet.
Raven jumped back quickly, slamming hard against the bar. "Ow," She winced, bracing herself against, only for a second. She saw him coming toward her and scurried to the side, banging into Spot. So hard they both fell to the floor.
"Umph."

"Get up," Spot muttered, grabbing her arm and quickly helping her up. "Time to go." He began to drag Raven out of the bar in a hurry. He wasn't in the mood for a full bar fight, especially when his fighting partner was Rae. Even if he would be the first to admit she was a great fighter.
"Sorry Charlie!" Spot called over his shoulder at the bartender as they headed out, who was shaking his head and cleaning up the mess.
Once they were out of the bar, Spot took Rae's hand. "Let's go home and go to sleep, okay?"

"No," She said, taking her hand from his, looking up at him. "Tell me what's going on. You owe me that." She said, she didn't look angry anymore, just worried.
"You're not the same, you're so wound up...well more wound up than normal. You keep pushing me off on everybody else meanwhile you used to confide in me, have me help you when you didn't know what to do. What is so different now?" She stepped over to him and gently gripped his shoulders. "I can't keep doing this."

Spot shrugged her off, he was suddenly shaking. How could she not understand? Raven was there, Raven KNOWS what Sammy did, Raven KNOWS how he feels about it.
Why does he have to explain? He wasn't sure how he can explain it to her- he was worried all the time, paranoid, and angry. On one hand he was worried something bad would happen to her (especially due to the population he was starting to get involved with) and on the other he was worried she would do something bad to him.
Spot Conlon wasn't used to being this worried all the time. Where was the confidence? The cockiness? The trustworthiness? He used to be able to trust Tristan and Raven- and Sammy, for that matter- with his life. Spot was very confused. "Listen. I'm. going. to. bed." He stared at her, his eyes nearly begging her to listen, to corporate. "I can't do this right now."
Spot couldn't help but wonder what life would be like if him and Raven were normal, and he wasn't the fearless leader of Brooklyn. He'd probably have an average factory job, and she'd probably be knocked up by now. Instead they were getting into bar fights together on a Thursday night, and he wanted to just go home.

"Fine! Go to bed! Ignore the problem! Its what you always do!" Raven was shaking with anger, her blood boiling. Always, he always did this, but since Sammy it had been worse. She hated that son of a bitch.
"You think I don't worry? That I ain't always looking over my shoulder? Well I am! If Sammy's got you all tied up in knots not knowing who to trust, ill find the bastard and yank off his balls! He was never worthy of you anyway and you were too blind to see it." She waved him off and turned to go in the opposite direction, then stopped, "anyone who was gonna leave left with him, you did what you had to do."
