Race, who had in no way, shape, or form been running an illicit poker game in the back room during Tristan's wedding reception, finally emerged to mercilessly taunt the groom yet again.
"Did I seriously just hear Tristan Shamien use the word 'baby-sit' in a sentence? Are you sure we ain't slipped into some kinda alternate reality?" Actually, he was half-serious about that. He still wasn't sure what had been harder to grasp over the past few months--that Rae and Spot almost had a baby, that they lost it, that Hunter was dead, that Tristan had a kid, or that he was fucking married and expecting another one.
And Race was still running card games and chasing after Sapphy, which was just enough excitement as far as he was concerned.

Nevada shrugged, 'as long as she doesn't barge in on us in the bedroom,' she said breezily. She liked Kennedy. She wouldn't mind having her around.

Kennedy breezed on by the happy couple once more, throwing another handful of petals in their faces.

Sapphy was at the end of the bar, keeping track of Kennedy's little toy guitar and nursing a beer. Race had invited her to come with him to the wedding and she was feeling a bit off by it. That was usually a date thing, right?
She was dressed in blue -- Kennedy's grandmother's matching dress, actually. It was silly and fun but seeing Margret Blake had sent Sapphy's odd mood into an even more confusing spiral. She smiled at the newlyweds and raised a silent toast in their direction.

Race cast a glance in Sapphy's direction--even though he'd told himself not to about forty times--and sighed. He knew it had been a bad idea to ask her, but he'd found it so hard to talk about everything that had happened, about Raven. It had made things kind of tense--their daily personal questions had practically dwindled to favorite colors and ice-cream flavors. He'd thought a festive occasion might loosen things up, might loosen everyone up, but even so, he should've known better than to invite her.
Speaking of Raven, he looked around for her; he hadn't seen her since the hospital.

Tristan kissed her cheek and then turned to Racetrack. "Yea yea. Listen these are the things I gotta think about now..." he picked up his beer and took a gulp. "I get fifteen percent of whatever the whole take is," he said with a smirk. "Don't gimme that look"

Race was, indeed, giving him a totally innocent and wounded look, but he stalked off to mutter something to a shady-looking guy who nodded and headed for the back room to settle the matter. Then he took a beer of his own and grinned at Tristan.
"So. You have a kid. You're a dad. You change diapers and buy toys." No, this was not getting old. He smiled at Nevada in a nicer, less smirky way. "And you found a girl with the supernatural powers to get you to commit. All you have to do is beat me at poker and you'll be a whole new man, Tris."

Kennedy plopped down in the stool next to Sapphy. She scrutinized her face. She knew why she'd been acting off all day.
"You doing alright?"

"No. But thanks for the dress," Sapphy said, handing Kennedy her little guitar. "You know what I wanna hear..."
The two started a happy little version of Moon River at the bar.

Raven picked up another drink and took a sip. She headed over to Sapphy and Kennedy to listen to them play. "That's such a sad song, why you playin that?" She asked.

Sapphy and Kennedy greeted Raven with a suitable "EEEEYYYYYYYY!" in the middle of their song. Sapphy put her arm around Raven.
"Mooooon river, wider than a mile!" Sapphy sang to Raven, brushing her hair out of her face affectionately. The scar had sent Sapphy into a spiral when she first saw it on Raven's face. She kept a straight, supportive face around Raven but sobbed to herself in the bunkroom closet. She'd just met Raven, but she felt closer to her after her ordeal. It all made her sick to her stomach...

Raven laughed in spite of herself and started swaying with them. "Mooooon River!"

"Just wait, Racetrack, the day is coming." Tristan smirked, "the whole town will be in an uproar." He paused to hand Race a beer. "I know this is shocking for everyone because even I'm shocked."

Sapphy laughed and Kennedy continued strumming along.
"I'm crossing you in style some dayyyyy," they all sang together dramatically. "Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker, wherever you're going I'm going your wayyyyy!" Kennedy kind of screamed the lyrics.

Nevada raised her eyes at Race, 'super powers huh?' nevada asked with a laugh, 'maybe I'm just that amazing....no powers needed,' she said, nudging Tristan, 'what is it husband-super powers or simply amazing?'
