Raven rocked Sean back and forth, back and forth as he cried. He was crying again, as always, crying...seemingly for no reason.
"Come on, Sean...please..." She paced the floor bouncing him gently as Sean cried and cried. It was going on a half hour now. "Jesus." Raven lifted him up and rested him against her shoulder rubbing his back.
"Ssshhh," She whispered and sighed.

Race bravely came up and knocked on Raven's door, even though he'd heard the crying all the way down the hall. He knew she'd had it rough for the past few days, home alone with a newborn baby while Spot was working--and today, he'd done that thing where he gambled at Sharkey's instead of selling papers, which earned him more money and didn't take as long, so he was free to offer whatever help he could.
Besides, he had a deck of cards and a very important goal.

((God love him))
"OH! Seany a visitor!" She said and stared wide eyed at her crying child who paused for a second to look at her with big blue eyes and then continued to cry. She sighed heavily and opened the door.
"Hi," She said with a pout as she continued to wail in her arms.

"Hi," said Race with total composure, stepping in and closing the door. He held out his arms for Sean, with no real idea what he planned to do with him--he just knew that the expression on Rae's face called for an immediate baby transfer.

((LOL Immediate baby transfer!))
Raven placed her infant son into Race's arms and sighed with relief.
"I haven't even been able to take a shower." Raven pouted and rubbed her eyes with the heels of her hand. "When I was changing him this morning he peed on me so I definitely smell like piss." She sighed heavily.
"and he's still crying...Sean what can I do for you?" She said to her baby and then kissed his cheek.
"God I'm happy you're here," She smiled at Race.

He smiled back. "Don't be happy yet. I might just make him worse." He jiggled the kid a little bit and then sat down with him. "Go take a shower. I'll see what I can do," he said, casually sneaking the deck of cards out of his pocket and holding them behind his back.

"Really? Oh God, thank you. I smell so bad," She kissed Race on the cheek quickly and hurried off into the bedroom.
Sean continued to cry for a minute and then saw something interesting that this strange guy pulled from his pocket. First of all the smelly lady wasn't holding him so he was annoyed and secondly this guy had something weird in his hands. He blinked and tried to turn his head, but he was only three days old and just...couldn't....do it.

"All right, kiddo," Race whispered with a nervous glance at the bedroom door. "Just don't tell your mother 'bout this." And he slipped a card out of the deck and held it in front of the baby's face. "This is an Ace, see? The best card of all!"

Sean instantly stopped crying and just stared at the card.
Raven finally got her stinky ass into the shower and it felt so so so good, she didn't even care that the water was lukewarm.

Silence! Blessed silence! Race felt encouraged. "And the best part is, there are four of 'em. See?" He flipped through the deck one-handed, supporting Sean's head with the other hand, and drew them out without even looking. "Ace of Hearts, Ace of Spades, Ace of Clubs, Ace of Diamonds." He lined them up on the baby's stomach. "Four of a kind. How 'bout that?"

Sean just stared up at him with giant blue eyes, wide with wonder. Evidently he liked this guy, he could deal with him.
Raven emerged a few minutes later in a fresh shift her hair wet and smelled like clean soap. She raised an eyebrow when she saw the cards on Sean's belly.
"What're you doin?"

"I...uh..." Race looked up at her, all wide-eyed innocence. "They fell out?"

Raven laughed, "Sure they did, but honestly I don't care cause he's quiet. I swear its the first time he's done that since he was born. He had us all fooled that day." She smiled at Sean in spite of it.
"Hello sweetheart," she leaned over and kissed his adorable toes.
Sean stared, its what he did, he stared and then ever so slowly his right lip curled up in a smirk.
Raven gaped at her son and then nudged Race gently. "Do you see that?"

Race looked from Sean to Raven with a terrified expression. "He really is Spot Junior already, ain't he? Just a few more years and he'll have the swagger and the slingshot and the mean right hook." Then he flashed a smirk of his own and gathered up the Aces. "His poker skills, though, will come right from Godfather Race."

"Oh I don't doubt it, keep going," She said with a smile. She wandered into the kitchen and grabbed them two glasses, of course taking out the wine.
"I will have to cut you off if you get sloppy, you're holding my baby."
