"I'm gonna go collect Bren," Violet's older brother Brodie gave her a spin and she nearly dropped her shawl, laughing as he made his way through the crowd to collect his winnings.
"TOLDJA!" she called after him, putting a hand on her hip without meaning too. It was just who she was, tossing her hair out of her eyes she turned back to the track and moved towards the bar to watch the horses thunder down. She wasn't wearing what she'd wear to serve drinks in the pub, it was her good clothes, not to mention it was Sunday and she'd-- probably upset God by coming with Brodie to the track after mass. "Now lets see.. got fer Doubledown..."
Shifting closer to the bar away from people running around she about hung over and clasped the ticket in her hand, the other holding her hat down as she waited for the next race. She loved horses, wouldn't admit it-- wouldn't let anyone know she wanted to ride a horse at full speed. But she definitely looked a lot happy at that moment then she did at the pub.

Jimmy thought he saw someone familiar leaning over the edge of the track. He smiled when he realized it was Vi. "vi!" he called out with a grin.

She spun around and then grinned holding onto her hat, "Lo, Jimmy me lad. Nice day at the track, aye?" It was sunday and the sinners were out on force.

She looked over at him and then down the track, tilting her head to the side. "Well can say for a fact that I think Doubledown might win it all today-- the bloody horse is doin' amazin after his second." She tilted her head and gave him a small smile, nudging his elbow. "So tell me, what brings ya here today?"

"To get away," he smiled at her and then shrugged, "sometimes I like the quiet and then the expected ya know? The horses are gonna run and I'm ready for it."

Vi grinned and held her hat with one hand. "aye, me, I like ta watch em run." Something had been nagging at her awhile. "Ya know, Spot mentioned ya ta me. Was a strange thing, said i'd like ya." She did like Jimmy. "thought he was talkin bout someone else at first..."

"Why'd ya think that?" Jimmy asked with a slight laugh. "You didn't think he meant Tristan, did ya? Confusing me with Tristan," he shook his head, "What's the world coming to?"

At the mention of Tristan she groaned and let her hand move from her hat to rub her face, "We're not takin' bout Tristan right now." Not after the other night at the pub, humiliating her like that. It bothered her but she shrugged it off normally and didn't let it show. "I mean we know each other, aye? Not like we don' talk.."

She elbowed him, "No more talkin' about Tristan. Spot was takin about you..." She didn't get it, any of it. "The way Spot was hintin...." Her attention was drawn to the horses running and she jumped onto the fence and leaned over, waving her ticket in her hand. "RUN YA GORGEOUS BEAST!"

She let out a happy shout as Doubledown pulled into the lead, raving her arm before the horse barely made it a win by the nose. She laughed and hugged Jimmy, "I won! I told him I'd win! He never listens!" When she let him go she looked down at the ticket, "Only won if he won all his races.."

"He's won two!" she shouted and then sighed, tossing her hair over her shoulder even though the hat was still in place. Smiling a little bit she turned back to the track then to Jimmy. "Wonder what I'm gonna do now.. his next race isn' for another few hours.."
