"I don't plan on not being one. Besides I can't leave the state for a year...so I ain't going nowhere," He said with a grin.

"well. Good. He needs it. I have an appointment with an interested family later this week, Mikey is on their list." Erin said, wanting to be honest with him.

"You'd place him now? Erin...don't do that. I'm trying to get him back. He should go from your house to mine and you know it." Tristan said.

"I know, I know, but his description was in our database..." she sighed. "It is difficult because you are right out of prison. It doesn't look good."

"God damn it," Tristan said and started pacing, he raked his fingers through his hair. He didn't want to loose him, not now. If he left Erin's and went to another home there was no telling what could happen.

"Hey, I'll do the best I can, all right? I'll present them with some younger cases, and if they are still interested in Mikey I'll let them know that you are in the picture," Erin explained and then glanced over at Mikey who was on the monkey bars.

Tristan nodded, "alright, I guess that's all we can do for now. You think he's gonna take it okay?"

"Take what? He knows I'm not his mother. We talk about him getting a real family all the time. In the end it's what's best for him," Erin explained.

Tristan nodded, "talking about it and having it happen are two very different things," he felt like this was a bad idea, one of the worst ideas shed ever had.

"I know that," Erin told him. She had a master's in counseling, she knew damn well what it would all mean. "But that's the reality of his situation. I can't take in every kid that I work with in the system. And you, of all people, should both know and understand that."

"I do, but for some reason you chose him, my kid." he said with a sigh, "I'm worried about him." Tristan admitted.

"It was just supposed to be temporary," Erin admitted, sighing. "Look. Contact your probation officer, and your lawyer, see what you can do. He's still young enough that he'll get over it if he ends up in a happy family. I'll attest on your behalf since I have the supervision time."

Tristan was going to do just that, the very next morning. He was going to fight for the welfare of his child. Fight to keep him, fight to get him to be his and his alone.

((GOD HELP ME. I JUST GOT OUT OF "THE VOW". Channing is God. I nearly passed out in the theater))
Later that week Mikey was waiting at the window. "MOTORCYCLE!" Erin came up and opened up the door for Tristan.
"Hey."

"hey," Tristan said with a smile. "Mikey, this is for you," he held out a black helmet that was a tiny version of his own helmet.
"you got a red one," he said to Erin.
