Mush rubbed his arm where she had pinched it, smiling.
"See, I won't end up in there. I practice running so when I actually have to, I make it."

"I'll take your word for it, then," she smiled, finally feeling at ease. After a couple of moments, Ershey grinned at Mush, an idea formulating in her head.
"How about we play a game? You ask me anythin' you want and I'll answer truthfully but I'll answer as little or as much as I want. Then we take turns." It was dangerous, she knew, but she just wanted to know more about him.

Mush thought about it for a moment before nodding. He already had a question in mind.
"If you could have any superpower, what would it be?"

"Hmmm, that's a good one," said Ershey, biting her lip as she thought. "I'd say... being able to go anywhere I want just by thinkin' it. I can go to the beach or... sleep in a nice bed for a night, pop in a restaurant and grab some food, or go to France! How about you?"

"Time Travel." He answered immediately.
"I'd go to the future, and probably never come back. Of course... Yer more than welcome tah come with me." Mush could feel his cheeks heat up, but he meant it.

"If you're never comin' back, you'd better take me with you," she said, teasing him. She couldn't help but feel a blush coming on as well. "You never know, girls over there might be fallin' heads over heels for you."

Mush hung his head, looking down at the pattern on the blanket.
"Nah... They'd think I'm dumb." He tried to sound light-hearted, but he knew he was probably right. People in the future were probably much smarter than he was. Heck, people in the present were much smarter than he was!

"No, they wouldn't," said Ershey sincerely. "You were the one who taught me how to sell papes, anyway. How would I have done that without you?"

Mush let out a scoff/laugh, picking at a stray thread on the blanket.
"Sellin' papes. That's not smarts. That's street smart, newsie smart. Nah." He wasn't really smart, not like Specs or Leo.

Ershey frowned, disliking how Mush was so down on himself. If he could only see what she saw, there was no point in fussing over being smart.
"Who cares if you're not a smarty pants? You're friendly, honest and thoughtful," she said, slowly moving closer to him. "That's all that matters." At least, to me.

"R-really? You -- you think so?"
Mush cleared his throat, as if that would help his nervous stammer, and boldly looked into Ershey's eyes.

"Mmhmm," said Ershey, nodding. She suddenly regretted moving closer to him. She couldn't do anything but look back at Mush's eyes as she sat there like a statue, not at all used to this type of situation.

Mush wanted to kiss her, but his courage had just flown away and landed on the moon.
So, instead, he took her hand and laid a soft kiss on the back of it. He hoped she didn't notice that he was shaking with nervousness.

Ershey felt her cheeks blush as Mush kissed her hand, amazed that he could be such a gentleman. She bit her lip, hoping to keep herself from smiling too much but failing miserably.
"Uh, t-thanks," she stammered, slowly losing cognitive thought altogether.

Mush smiled shyly, observing that Ershey was now stammering as much as he usually did. He thought that was a good sign.
"My pleasure." He answered back, sounding more charming than he felt.
