"Really? You would watch a ballet with me?" said Ershey shockingly, not believing that he would actually pull through. Most guys would turn and run without looking back.

"As long as you'll be there... Why not?"
Mush could tell that Ershey was special enough to risk getting beaten up for. Heck, he already was at risk for getting beaten up and teasted. But he didn't care.

"How about this... if you do ever go to a ballet with me, I mean, y'know... when we sneak into one," said Ershey, "I do somethin' with you that you want. You can choose whatever you wanna do."
It was a risk but she didn't care. She'd never met anyone that made her felt this way.

Mush looked at her, his brow furrowed.
"Really?" There was one thing he'd wanted to do for a while, but he was always too chicken to go by himself.

"Really," she smiled, both excited and curious at the same time. "What do you wanna do?"

"Well... I've always wanted to go into that museum where they have the dead animals and stuff. I dunno, I've just always wanted to see what they look like."
Mush looked over at Ershey, his expression filled with concern. "Is that... weird?"

"Not... really?" replied Ershey, quite surprised by Mush's suggestion. That was definitely not what she expected at all. "It just means you're curious, that's all. I'll go with you, I swear. As long as you don't leave me in there."

"No, of course not." Mush replied, chuckling.
Before he knew it, he let out a huge yawn. He didn't want to Ershey to think he was tired because he didn't want to leave her yet.
"Food always makes me yawn..." He said, shrugging.

"Sleepy?" asked Ershey, suddenly realizing how long they've been at the rooftop. She was hoping the newsies were too preoccupied at Irving Hall to realize that prank that Mush had pulled on them. She didn't want to leave but exhaustion was catching up with her as well.

Mush felt bad lying to her.
"Kinda..." He sat up, still holding onto Ershey's hand. "I think it's gettin' late and we still have to sell tomorrow mornin'..."

Ershey sat up, letting out a small sigh. "I know," she said sadly. "If only we could stay here a little longer... but, really, Mush.. thank you."
She looked at him, full of sincerity and gratitude. It was the best way to end her day. She smiled, squeezing his hand gently.

Mush blushed, smiling shyly and looking down at the ground.
He stood up, pulling Ershey with him. Then, in a very bold manner, Mush pulled her close to him.
"Can I... Kiss you?"

Ershey's eyes widened in slight surprise at his question. She'd never had someone ask her that question before and it just made her fall "in like" with him even more. She bit her lip and nodded, too scared to open her mouth that she might say the wrong thing.

Mush leaned in a bit more and met his lips with hers, but only briefly. The kiss was short, but sweet.
He was blushing furiously as he stared down at their feet. "I had a really good time tonight, Ersh."

((Last post for the night! Sleepy time for me! ) Ershey loved that he was gentle and didn't force anything on her. He was breath of fresh air and exactly what she needed. The kiss sent her doing somersaults in her brain, excited and refreshed at the same time. "Me too," she said shyly, feeling the awkwardness kick in. "Uh, want me to help you clean this place up?"
