"Okay. But no more." She said, pointing her finger at him. The last thing she wanted to do was get drunk and embarrass herself in front of him. ((le sigh. bed time yet again. time goes by so quickly! until tomorrow ))

"It'll be your last one," said Ryan reassuringly, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead before rushing off to the bar once again. ((Alrighty. Sweet dreams! ))

This time, a man did walk over to the table and try to speak to Lillian.
Lillian barely looked at him, waving him off with both her hand and her standoffish words.

Ryan was already near the table, rum and coke in hand for Lillian when he noticed someone try to approach her. Pushing his way towards their table, Ryan set down her drink and stared at him, as if his eyes could send knives down his throat. The man stammered and immediately walked away.
"Next time I go to the bar, I'm takin' you with me," he said, finally sitting down.

Lillian just nodded, rolling her eyes a bit. Soldiers were the worst ones about being overprotective.
"What made you decide to join the army?" She asked as she twirled her straw around in her drink.

Ryan kept his eye on the soldier, making sure he was a distance away before replying to Lillian. "I wanted to get out and do something. Y'know, help the country and everything," he answered simply. "I was getting tired of doing the same thing everyday. I wanted a change."

"It's a noble thing, joining the army." She said quietly. "Dangerous, but noble."

"It is dangerous but it's worth doing. We wouldn't all be here if we weren't fighting for anything important," he explained. He looked over at her with concern, noticing her behavior. "Hey. You alright there?"

Lillian shot him a small smile. "Yes, I'm absolutely peachy." She replied with a nod. "Are you alright? Is your arm feeling okay?"

Ryan shrugged, looking over at his arm. "It's okay," he replied. "As long as we take breaks now and then, it'll be fine. Don't worry, I'll let you know if somethin' happens." He winked at her, grinning. "Just tell me when you want to dance again, alright?"

"Will you really? You won't be a typical man and try to suffer through it, saying it's fine when it's really hurting like the devil? You'll really tell me?" Lillian sipped her drink, though her eyes were wide as she waited for his answer.

"I will, really," said Ryan obediently, nodding at her. Maybe until it's hurting like hell... "How's your drink?"

"Oh, it's lovely." Lillian replied before taking a big sip.
The rest of the evening, Lillian thought, went as well as the first part had. They danced a few more times, mostly to slow, romantic songs. By the time Lillian declared she should be getting home, she had to fight the urge to just up and kiss Ryan on the lips. But she would never do that, no. Lillian was just not that kind of girl.
Lillian's hand was yet again resting in the crook of Ryan's elbow as they began to walk back to the base. She was leaning a bit more on him, for even two drinks for Lillian was a tad bit too much.

"I really shouldn't have gotten you that drink," said Ryan regretfully as he looked over at Lillian. She was quiet but he could tell that the alcohol got to her, especially with the way she was holding on to him. Granted, Ryan had a perfect time. She was a breath of fresh air and exactly what he needed at the base. Maybe that misfire wasn't so bad, after all.
"We're almost there, he said, rubbing her arm with his free hand. "You need me to carry you?"

"No!" Lillian replied, laughing. "No, I'm fine. Just a bit tipsy, nothing more. I promise."
Of course, the thought of him carrying her brought about a warm, fuzzy sensation throughout her body. But, no, definitely not with his injured arm.
She sighed, her breath turning to mist as it hit the chilled air, and laid her head on his shoulder.
