"Bum odds either way. I'll just wait for him to come over here and then look vaguely offended." Actually, Spot was undoubtedly going through hell right now, but Race knew that trying to get him to talk about his feelings was just as bad an idea as it would be with Raven. When these two crazy kids wanted to open up, they did--otherwise, keeping things low-key was the wisest course of action.

Raven laughed and then just looked at Race for a little while. "C'mere for a second," She motioned him closer. When he moved a little closer, Raven reached out and hugged him, one of those super tight hugs. Her heart was pounding hard in her chest and she closed her eyes.
"Thank you..." She whispered, "I wanted to do that when I first saw you but you were too far away." Raven whispered as she pulled away.

Race just held her gently while she hugged him, and something in him melted. It was like a long-delayed flood of relief. Dear God, he'd thought she was dead last night.
"I wanted to do that too," he admitted when they broke apart, "but I was afraid I'd hurt you." He squeezed her hand. "Rae, you know if you ever need to talk about all this or...whatever you need, I'm here." Here being Duane Street or Brooklyn or Sheepshead Bay or any number of shady casinos, but she had always been exceptionally good at tracking him down. She had access to the little birds, after all.

"And you're the best sister I could've asked for. Even with spaghetti sauce all over your face," he said fondly. "Avoiding is a valid choice. If anyone tries to get you to stop before you're ready, I'll soak 'em personally."

Raven smiled, "Good I expect you too. I'd probably go nuts with out you, so just be careful when they punch back." She patted his arm.

"I know, just make sure she's ready to hear it...she's been through a lot." Tristan said, he glanced back at Rae. He actually didn't know if she could handle knowing about Bruno now.
