Specs face fell once he saw how sad and distant Tag was. He wanted nothing more than to hug her and wish her troubles away but he knew he couldn't. Not even now, when she didn't want him around.
"Are you sure? Tag, we could just go back and lie down..." said Specs, hoping she'd open up to him.

"No, you wouldn't understand. Plus, you don't like crying girls, remember?" She kept on walking toward the library, shrugging Specs' arm off her shoulders.

"Hey," he said gently, running to catch up with her. "It doesn't mean I want to see you cry. That's the last thing I want." It was tearing him apart that he couldn't do anything, not even console her or hold her close.

Specs froze mid-step, his eyes wide at what he just heard. It was as though something had hit him hard and he didn't know what to do. His heart fell and he frowned. All he wanted to do was help.
"I, uh... a-alright," he stammered before walking away.

Tag proceeded onto the library and hid away in her secret room.
An hour so later, Tag felt awful. She went back to the house, hoping to find Specs there.

After Tag's outburst, Specs simply made his way to the rooftop, now craving some alone time for himself. He sat on the edge, staring out at the view and sighed. What did he do wrong? Why was she so angry? Was it about her nightmare?

Tag had searched every room to no avail. She sighed and decided to try the roof on the off chance he was there.
She pushed open the door and immediately stopped breathing when she saw him so close to the edge.

Specs swung his legs playfully, sighing as he watched the people down below and wondering when Tag would come back home. He figured he'd missed her when he was thinking about what he could've done wrong earlier.

Tag didn't make an effort to be quiet so when she spoke Specs wouldn't get startled and fall off.
"Specs..." Tag said hesitantly.

Specs craned his neck to see who it was and when he realized it was Tag, he turned around and swung his legs back on the rooftop before standing up to face her. He stuffed his hands on his pockets and waited for her to continue. He couldn't think of anything else to say to her and figured silence would work best for now.

She could barely look at him.
"I'm sorry." She said. Though her voice was quiet, it was filled with sincerity.

He walked closer to her, gently wrapping his arms around her shoulders for a hug. "What happened to you, Tag?" he asked softly.

"It's always the same." She said, resting her chin on his shoulder. "I can see the orange light... I can almost feel the fire. And I can hear them. Screaming. I'm running to help them, but I can't ever get there. I keep running into dead ends, and I can't help them. I can't save them."
A tear had silently rolled down Tag's cheek as she spoke.
