Ryan shrugged. "What's your day like? Have a picnic? Choose what dress to wear? Annoy me?" He was curious to see what Lillian did on a daily basis other than bother the hell out of him from time to time.

Lillian rolled her eyes.
"Believe it or not, I take lessons. I read."

"Oh, you read?" said Ryan slowly as if he was talking to a five year old. "Well, good for you, missy. I'm sure you do."
Despite his teasing, he didn't doubt that she did. Lillian was well-raised by her family and he knew that she was just as much intelligent as he is. He just wasn't about to go admitting that right away.

"Oh, you are so funny!" Lillian replied, letting out a fake laugh. "How come I never knew you were this hilarious?!"

"'Cause you were too busy admiring Lord Westcliff," muttered Ryan.
...Was that jealousy in his voice?

"Ah, yes. Lord Westcliff." Lillian nodded slowly. "Do you actually know Lord Westcliff?"

Ryan frowned. Of course he did. He had to because his family associated with him. He was nothing but a pompous ass that wanted to show off that he was a Lord. Too bad none of the other young men didn't approve too well of him.
"He's... uh, a character," said Ryan, choosing his words carefully. "Quite proud, that one."

"Ryan, he's a right ass. Proud as a peacock, that one."
Lillian found she wasn't afraid to voice her true opinion of Westcliff to Ryan. For some reason, she knew he wouldn't tell.

"Exactly!" said Ryan loudly, thankful that Lillian saw the arrogant airs that surrounded Lord Westcliff. "It's good to know you have sound judgment."
((Oh no!! Hope everything's ok! I think I might've seen you post something about that on fb!! No worries! <3))

"No, it's because I have a brain and I actually use it." Unlike 95% of the girls around my age...
She took a last bite of her apple and threw it away for some squirrel to pick up later.

"Which is how it should be," nodded Ryan, starting to respect her and her thoughts.
"Either way," he said, swallowing his last bite of the sandwich. "I dread the poor girl that gets stuck with Lord Westcliff. He might as well marry himself with how much he talks about his supposed achievements."

"He's not even that great of a kisser." She replied without thinking. Lillian wasn't one to gloat.

"Yeah, he -- what?" muttered Ryan, his eyes widening and his heart stopping once he heard what Lillian said.

Lillian looked over at him, wondering why he looked so shocked. Did he even look shocked, though? She couldn't figure his expression out.
"Are you serious? I mean, who hasn't he kissed? Of course he tried to seduce me."

Ryan wanted to barf. The image was just too much. Lillian deserved so much better, not someone like Lord Westcliff.
"And you fell for it?" he said, still in shock. "I think your sound judgment just went down the drain."
