Lillian made sure her riding hat was tilted at just the right, fashionable angle before winking at herself in the mirror. She'd just had a new riding outfit made and couldn't wait to try it out. Of course, since her family was living in their country house for the summer, there would barely be anyone around to show the dress off to, but still... She wasn't about to wait until they moved back to London for the season to wear the black and burgundy ensemble.
She grabbed her riding crop from the servant who'd fetched it for her and headed out to the stables. She'd called ten minutes ago to have her favorite gray, Kingston, saddled and ready for her.

((Sorry! Ran off for some food!))
Making his way towards the stables, Ryan adjusted his riding hat, ready for a day out in the sun. He always felt relaxed and calm whenever he would go ride, something that he rarely did recently. He was stressed from his family's bickering and wanted nothing more than to just be. Taking out his favorite horse, he couldn't help but spot someone familiar. He sighed heavily, considering whether he should save riding for another day.

Lillian had been waiting for the stable boy to finish brushing Kingston, feeding her horse some treats in the meantime.
She heard footsteps on the cobblestone driveway and turned around. She let out a sigh of disgust. For years now she'd been begging her parents to buy their own stable instead of sharing with the neighboring house - in which Ryan Lane just happened to live in. Unfortunately for her.
"Oh, it's you." She said, turning back to Kingston.

"Don't sound too excited," muttered Ryan under his breath as he approached her. He wasn't up for doing any sort of banter, however, if provoked, there was no stopping him.

"I see you haven't fled back to America, yet." She observed as the stable boy handed her the reins. "Please, don't stay on my account."
Lillian swung herself up on her horse and rode astride, even though women usually rode sidesaddle. She was wearing trousers underneath her skirt and sincerely hoped Ryan was shocked and disgusted with her.

"Why would I ever stay here on your account? All I'd get are snarky comments and things thrown behind my back," he said, rolling his eyes at her as he pulled himself up on his horse. He did, however, shoot her a confused look as she swung herself over.
"You might as well wear trousers like everyone else instead of a skirt."

"First of all, I was being sarcastic. Obviously." She rolled her eyes, annoyed that he couldn't even tell she was joking! Like she even wanted him here in the first place!
"Second of all, what I wear is none of your business!" She scoffed and kicked Kingston into a trot, wanting to vomit just thinking about Ryan looking at her legs.

"I was just suggesting!" he yelled at her, already feeling irritated. Lillian always twisted his words and he hated it, which is exactly why he couldn't stand her. He'd say something and it'd be interpreted the wrong way. Girls are so complicated.
He followed her closely behind, all thought of relaxing now completely gone. Lillian irritated him but that didn't mean he liked spending time with her. Of course, he'd never admit that out loud. "You'll miss me when I'm gone. Admit it," he said, sidling up next to her as he gave her a playful wink.

Lillian burst out laughing.
"Yes, because I'd miss an arrogant, bossy, irritating, condescending American. Uh huh. Okay."

"You'd be so bored," he said, as he gasped for air and put his hand on his chest.

Lillian shot him a very confused look.
"What world are you living in? Apparently not the same one as me if you think I'd be bored without you..."

"Then, why must you always talk to me when you see me?" he said, shooting her a look. Sure, it was exaggerated but he had fun teasing her despite how stressful it got now and then.

Lillian was about to reply with many things, such as Well, who else am I going to talk to? or Because all of the dumb things you say amuse me. But then he would point out that she actually would be bored if he weren't there.
So, instead, she childishly stuck out her tongue at him before taking off on Kingston at a gallop.

"A-ha!" said Ryan defiantly, pointing a finger at her as he followed close behind. "I was right!"

Lillian simply ignored him, hoping maybe he would go away if she didn't pay attention to him. Because, no matter what he thought, she really despised being around him.
((I'm gonna reply for Mush just now but then I'm gonna go paint my nails real quick. I'm surprised that's never come up during one of our threads... I'm forever painting my nails!!))
