"Well, chances are it'll try to, but you just can't let it. Take it from a girl who has been through so much shit...it all works out eventually." Raven wiped her mouth with her napkin.

"I hear ya," smiled Ershey, grabbing a glass and filling it with water. "So what'd you go by around here? I forgot to ask you your name."

"I'm Raven," She held out her hand to shake Ershey's, when they did she cut into another bite of cabbage, "This is really good."

"Ershey," she smiled, wiping her hand on her apron before shaking her hand. "Thanks! It's a good thing you still caught Tibby's when it's open. 'Sides, it's pourin' outside."

"I know and I hate the rain." She glanced out the window at the rain still coming down. "Did I make you stay late?" If she had, now she felt terrible.

"I hate it too," frowned Ershey, wrinkling her nose. Once she heard Raven's second comment though, she simply smiled and waved her hand at her. "We're still open. I just like cleanin' ahead of time when it's slow. It gives me somethin' to do."

"Good...cause I'd feel terrible. I hate that, when it's almost time to go and then you get stuck for another hour or something." Raven finished up her food and smiled. "My bosses daughter always does that to me. I hate her."

"Boss's daughter? You got another job?" asked Ershey curiously as she took Raven's plate and began washing it.

"Yea..." Raven shrugged. "I'm eighteen now and I gotta be able to support myself eventually so I took a job as a maid in this fancy house. I hate it." She admitted.

Ershey frowned when she heard Raven's second job. "Ugh, I hated it. It's like they own you... well, they sorta do, I guess, but it was just so... hmm, what's the word -- it was as if I couldn't breathe."

"Suffocating? Humiliating? Degrading?" Raven finished for her. "Yea...but it pays good and I need the money."

"Exactly," said Ershey, shaking her head as she finished cleaning the kitchen. "That's true... you gotta do what you gotta do. Just don't get into the wrong trouble. Those rich people are horrible."

"I don't plan on it...but trouble always seems to find me anyways," Raven handed Ershey her dish.

"I know how that feels," she chuckled, taking the dish from Raven. She glanced outside, noticing that the rain was still pouring. "You can stay here if you like.. up until the rain lets out a little bit."
