He laughed and kissed her, slowly and gently. "Now we can add a clothing shop to the list," he announced, heading out into the street with her so they could talk a little more freely. "Seriously, Shaye...name a place more private than the bunkroom and I'll be very happy to yield. Although..." He sighed. "I should maybe try and make friends with your brother at some point."

"Oh Anthony," Sapphy sighed dramatically -- she refused to take this supposed feud seriously. "Let my brother stew. He'll get over it."

"No, he won't. And I don't want it to turn into some big, ridiculous ordeal that you get caught up in and end up hating us both for. 'Specially when I could be spending some stress-free quality time with you and those stockings," Race teased.
"I'm gonna try and have a civil conversation with him soon. And I could also maybe ask Raven if she and Spot ever go out and leave their new apartment empty," he said innocently.

"She did mention that to me yesterday," Sapphy smirked at Racetrack, finger to her chin thoughtfully.
"...Want me to be there with Copper as mediator?"

"Up to you. I feel like he might respond better to a manly one-on-one thing, though."

"I want him to think I do, anyway." Race grinned and looked around. "Well, my dear Sapphire, we've gotten you a present and made some very interesting plans, so how are we gonna spend the rest of the morning?"

"Well, I had a goal in mind! Didn't know we'd accomplish it this fast. Breakfast sounds good," he agreed, happy at the suggestion, because Sapphy's eating habits generally struck him as kind of sporadic. "There's a decent bakery around the corner."

Clearly they were both in weird moods today. Race led the way to the door and threw out his arm in a flourishing gesture as he opened it for her.

He followed her in and eyed the pastries hungrily. "Could I get a couple canolis and..." He looked at Sapphy. "Do I gotta let you buy your own?"

Sapphy seemed to switch sides now.
"Would I be spoiled if I let you? I typically make it policy to never pay for my own food unless absolutely necessary."

"It's a good policy!" he assured her, delighted. "What'll it be?"
