((Hahahaha! ;D I love her.))
Macbeth stared at her again for a good ten seconds and then, because it was the only way to convey her entire range of responses to this tirade, burst out laughing. She laughed because Rae kind of reminded her of her sister Ada and her old friend Irish, rolled into one. And because of Big Tony and the giant knife and the hormonal rage and the very tempting sandwich and the sheer absurdity of it all. And Raven had no way of knowing all that and would probably just be insulted, but honestly, this was a miracle. Beth just didn't laugh like this. Ever.
When she managed to stop and wipe the tears from her eyes, she looked up at the girl. "Sorry. Just...look. I've done much much stupider things than steal a roll from Tito of Castellamare. And I'm not a bambina, just for the record. But I'm fucking grateful that you saved my life and my eyeballs and my virtue, and I'll eat your bloody sandwich." And she sat down.

"Good!" Raven exclaimed laughing as well. "You make me so fucking tense all the time. Jesus," Raven sliced more tomatoes and then took two slices of bread from her bag. She removed some fresh cheese and took some balsamic vinegar from the cabinet.
She slapped that sandwich together instantly and then served it to Macbeth on a pretty red plate with green vines around the edge.
"Mangare," She said. Raven leaned against the counter. "You're infuriating ya know that? And you are...a bambina...compared to me anyways." She smirked at her.

"Yeah, I know. Believe me." She took a bite of the mangare, and then several more, so that it took some chewing before she could talk again. "Oh yeah? How old are you?"

"Eighteen, two years can do a lot." She pointed at her belly. "Practically married, gonna be a mom. It's all really stressful actually. Be a little girl for as long as you can manage, it ain't that bad a thing." She said with a shrug.

"I was never a little girl," Beth said darkly, slowing down her pace a little to avoid inhaling the entire sandwich in a matter of seconds. "So Spot Conlon's really gonna marry you?"

"Who knows," Raven said with a shrug. "That's what I want, but he's never really gone by that before so we'll see." Raven shrugged, again.
"Good huh?" She nodded toward her sandwich.

"Very," she admitted grudgingly, taking another bite. She hesitated and fiddled with the vines on the edge of the plate. "You find a midwife yet?"

"Yeah, my friend Nevada used her. Her names Harris," Raven said, "Why? You know how to help?" She raised an eyebrow at her. She seriously wouldn't put anything passed this girl.

"I..." She didn't really feel like expressing her complex feelings on the subject. On the one hand, she was handy when it came to illnesses, wounds, and general medical emergencies. On the other hand, the first and last sickbeds she sat at ended in death, and Ada's still haunted her. "Yeah, I've helped out before."

"Well if you have any advice, let me know cause honestly, I'm nervous...not scared...nervous." She sighed heavily.

"It's an important distinction," Macbeth agreed. "Well...wash with soap and hot water when it's time. Make the midwife wash. Hell, wash everything in sight, before and after. You can tie a blanket to the bedpost to tug on--if you're holding someone's hand instead, you'll end up squeezing 'em to death. And I know a way to get the baby out if he's backwards, but it's kinda horrifying, so let's not go into it."
Her sandwich was down to the crusts. She munched on them thoughtfully. "Um...if you need any help when the time comes, you could send someone to the girls' orphanage down by the bridge. Good chance I might be there. And since I owe you that favor and all..."

"You seem to know more than the midwife. I'll definitely take you up on that offer." Raven said with a nod. "I have some apples if you want one...you said you come over with a baby, she at the orphanage?"

She had said that, hadn't she? Accepting an apple, she nodded. "Ain't mine," she clarified quickly. "She's my sister's."

Raven nodded. "I wouldn't judge even if she was yours, I ain't in no position too." She studied her for a second. "Your niece okay in there?" Raven had heard horror stories about orphanages.

"Oh, I ain't judging, it's just that me having a kid would be a disaster. And this place is actually good. I've checked it out from top to bottom." In fact, the staff pretty much lived in fear of her. She made frequent unannounced visits, sampled the food, interrogated everyone, and yelled a lot. "I'll get her out in a year or two and...I dunno. Find her a good fam'ly, I guess."
