"It's your hospitality, he feels he needs to compensate," Sapphy explained as she started pulling out bottles and glasses.
Copper grinned back at Race, scratching his nose like a signal.

Race, chuckling at the signal because it made him feel like he was hustling poker with Rae again, immediately launched into a friendly conversation. "So, Copper, how've you been? Ain't seen you since that night at Charlie's. Thought I was gonna be feeling that whiskey for a week."

"Oh, ya know... A little bit of improving the truth, a little bit of Brooklyn antics," he said vaguely. "And you?"

"Oh, not bad. A craps game here, a horse race there. Mostly been looking forward to tonight...free food, good company...but Sapphy seemed kinda worried for some reason," he said innocently, recalling her concern that he and Copper would be at each other's throats.

Sapphy stopped pouring drinks, listening to their conversation. She slowly turned and arched an eyebrow up at Raven.

Raven held up her hands. She had no idea what was going on, "No clue what they're on about." She dipped a piece of bread into the sauce and took a bite, then handed a slice to Sapphy as well.

Sapphy was beaming. First her man and brother were carrying on a conversation and now she had bread and sauce! She happily dipper her slice in the red sauce and munched on her food.

"Delicious huh?" Raven said. She kind of had to toot her own horn when it came to her cooking, it was delicious. "This is all I want, just bread and sauce, all day...everyday...for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bread and sauce."

"I'll allow you to eat only that everyday 'til the end of time if you share with me everyday 'til the end of time," Sapphy bartered.

"Done," Raven said with a laugh and then bit into her piece of bread. "Ugh so good!"

((Sorry, guys! Almost missed my dentist appointment. : ) Race heard the girls' conversation and grinned. "I think they get the message, and we're missing bread and sauce."

"yeah you are! Get in here and get a taste." Raven yelled to them with a huge smile. Where the hell was Spot? She was about ready to kill him in two seconds.

"HEY, SPOT! QUIT LURKING BACK THERE!" Among his Brooklyn friends, Race quickly reverted to the method of communication used on the crowded, noisy Brooklyn docks, which was basically just shouting at everybody. He sprang up and headed for the kitchen to get in on the sauce-tasting.

Raven laughed loudly. "Yeah Race you sure told him." Raven dipped a piece of bread for him and handed it over.

((Hey can I bring Zippy in so she can meet Copper? Maybe Rae invited her too?))
"I'M COMING I'M COMING!" Spot hollered back, coming out of the bedroom and heading into the kitchen. "How's it rollin', Race?" Spot asked, patting his old friend on the shoulder. He wanted everything to be alright between them for once. Spot reached for the plates and silverware.
"JESUS RAVEN ARE THESE NEW?" He exclaimed, staring at the dinnerware.
