The expression on Kathryn's face was one of such vacancy that her father could have said anything in his speech, and she wouldn't even be phased. But, as it were, Mayor Van Wyck was only talking about really, really boring political stuff. And, for some reason, hundreds of people had shown up.
She had tried to get out of it, pulling out every excuse she'd ever thought of. But they fell on deaf ears, so here she was supporting her father or whatever. She was just so bored.

Blink didn't know what was going on. All he knew was there was a crowd of people and he had papes to sell. It was a large crowd, so he kept to the outskirts, hawking, but not necessarily yelling, the headlines.

Kathryn was gazing around, trying to find something - anything - to keep her entertained. She heard a voice yelling out something in the distance, but paid no mind.

It didn't take long for Blink to realize... This was a congregation for The Mayor. Which meant... He scanned the group of people up front.
There she was.
She was beautiful and she hated him. But hate never stopped Blink before! He sauntered up towards the front, trying to be quiet, respectful, and discreet.
"PSSSSTTT!"

Jumping a bit in her seat, Kathryn snapped out of her daze and searched around for the source of the noise. Had she been the only one that heard it?

She finally spotted Blink, and her eyes widened. She started coughing wildly, excusing herself and dashing to where he was.

"...I'm supporting my father as he makes a speech. Obviously. I meant what are you doing calling me over here?! My mother!" She gritted her teeth, speaking in hushed tones, and gestured to her mother sitting serenely next to Kathryn's now empty chair.

Kathryn grabbed his arm and pulled him further away from the crowd and her mother. She had to admit - but only to herself - that she was glad he had showed up.

She stopped walking when they approached the edge of Central Park. She let go of his arm and smoothed down her skirt with her hands.
"Now. I assume you have something pressing and urgent to tell me...?"
