Lillian squealed and laughed. She resisted her urge to kick as he grabbed hold of her; she just put her hands on his shoulders and tried to step away, but of course she couldn't.
"Ryan! Stop!" she cried, laughing still.

Pushing up, he resurfaced, carrying Lillian with him before they floated back on the water.

Lillian decided to just go with it, so she wrapped her arms around his neck after brushing his wet hair off his forehead.

Blinking back the water in his eyes, he sputtered and smiled goofily at Lillian. "Thanks for everything... for pushing me this year."

Ryan grinned, pulling her in for a tight hug. The rest of the day was spent splashing around in the water and relaxing out in the sun. It wasn't until the sun was finally setting that Ryan felt exhaustion come around the corner. He'd been studying so hard that he hardly slept that week.

Lillian was in Ryan's room, sitting at his desk as he tried desperately not to fall asleep. "Ryan," she said, chuckling, "just go to sleep! I'll go back to my room."

Lillian rolled her eyes playfully, stepping to the edge of the bed. She lay down next to him on her back, staring up at the ceiling. "But you've been with me almost the whole day. Aren't you tired of me?" she teased, smirking.
