She grinned back, barely breaking a sweat. She liked to think she could do this all night, but she knew that they would both tire eventually and head for the bar. "Where'd you learn to do this?" she shouted over the music.
((Haha, I love it when that happens!))

"My ma!" He yelled back at her, "She was a chorus girl before she met my father!" He said and then spun her around again.

"Really?" Tara said enviously. "How exciting!" She let go of his hand and did three twirls in a row, showing off. "Don't ask me to do that once we've started drinking!" she laughed, taking his hand again.

Jack pulled her against him and then dipped her. He smirked at her and then brought her up again. "I won't I promise," He kissed her cheek.

She blushed and smiled at him, looking into his eyes for a second as she leaned on him to catch her breath. "Speaking of drinking..." she said, eyes straying to the bar.

Tara tried to think of the single most shocking drink she could possibly order. "Whiskey," she announced.

"Liquid fire for the lady and I'll take a beer," Jack said with a laugh.

She smiled wickedly and picked up her drink when it came, taking a long swig and not even flinching as the alcohol burned its way down her throat. She'd never tried whiskey before in her life.

"That was impressive," Jack said with a smile and took a swig of his beer.

"Thanks," she said cheerfully. "Now I'll just have to win a bar fight." She smirked and nursed her drink in smaller sips now that she'd proved she could handle it.

"No bar fights, not in this joint, you never know who you're dealing with." Jack lazily sipped his beer.

"I'll keep that in mind." She set down her drink and cocked her head at him. "Jack...what happened to your ma and pop? You don't have to tell me," she added quickly. "Really, you can just tell me to go to hell and then we'll dance again. I'm just, uh...kind of curious. About everything. So..."

Jack looked down into his beer for a minute, took a sip then looked at her. "Well...when I was ten my ma died of consumption. My dad really couldn't keep it together and didn't have nobody to help him so...he let the business go and ended up in a lot of debt, the city took over the shop. He started to robbing houses, stealing from people, till the bulls caught him. He's in the clink." He shrugged.
"Every newsie for miles around has a story like mine."

Tara nodded sadly. She'd heard even worse stories, but she never got used to it. "Thanks for telling me. You get a free question any time you want now. Make it a good one, though, because my life is mostly pretty boring." She took another swig of whiskey and grimaced. "And I'm definitely going for a nice, mild beer next round."
