((Some backstory here, Moonshine seduced Rae when she was 16 and then married another girl he was bethrothed to, so she doesn't like him very much MUAHAHA))
Raven had perched herself high up in a sturdy oaktree. Her body stretched out on the strong wooden branch. She dangled her leg off the edge, swaying it back and forth, the velvet of her burgundy gown moving in time. She took a bite of her apple and sighed.
Her groom was arriving at the castle today. She was staying as far away from the masculine members of her family as possible, considering her marriage was all their idea. Evidently without anyone telling her, she was turning into an old spinster. Raven was twenty.
~
"Does she know it's you?" Tristan asked his friend. He sat on a large black stallion which trotted along at a leisurely place. He could see the castle looming in the distance and was dreading it. He hadn't been to court in ages, preffering instead to fight alongside his best friend in battle.
"You should have said no," Tristan said for probably the hundreth time.

Magdalen, Raven's lady-in-waiting and best friend, had spent the better part of an hour searching the castle for her. By the time she found Raven up in a tree, she was in a bit of a huff, to say the least.
"Raven! Your father's been calling after you for ages, and I keep getting yelled at for not keeping a better eye out on you! Come down, they'll be here soon!"
Maggie knew Raven would rather hug a hornets' nest than marry, but she was an idealistic romantic and was looking forward to a wedding.
~*~ Tyler snorted, glancing over at Tristan as they trotted along. They were getting close to th castle, and his nerves were starting to hit.
"Of course she doesn't know it's me. She would have outright refused, and then had to explain why. You know just as well as I do that people don't exactly take kindly to deflowering unmarried young maids in haylofts."
He paused. "It's been four years. She'll be over it. Won't she?"

Raven glared at her friend and chucked the apple at her. She sat up then, hands gripped the branch and raised an eyebrow.
"Tell my father I've come down with the bloody flux and haven't been able to the leave the privy. We'll have to have the wedding once I'm fully recovered." She smirked.
~
"Um...no," Tristan said with a smirk of his own. "She's most definitely not over it. Most likely she is waiting the opportune moment to strike you down...poison most like. Now it'll be easier since you will be at the castle." He smiled. "Probably slow acting poison, the kind that turns your bowels into mush."
"Best hurry then," Tristan smirked at him and kicked his heels into his horse, riding off at a gallop.

Maggie yelped as she dodged the apple, then stomped her foot, glaring right back at her with hands on her hips.
"Stop acting like a petulent child! You knew this day would come, and he'll make you do it no matter what you say. So, you might as well come see who it is." Just then, the horns blew in the distance, marking the arrival of their guests. "They're here! Now get down!"
~~ Tyler muttered under his breath, but sped up. As they entered the gates, he dismounted, handing the reigns to a page boy. Raven's father, the Lord of the castle, greeted them.
"Ah, Tyler, my boy! And Tristan, too! So glad you've joined us! I trust you had an easy journey."
Tyler bowed. "Thank you, sire. The ride went well. We're honored to be accepted in your presence."

"Maggie, my sweet maid, why don't you come and get me?" Raven asked her, brown eyes shining mischeviously. She kicked her legs and stayed right where she was.
~
"The terrain was a bit muddy due to the reigns, but our journey went quickly," Tristan said as he bowed to Raven's lord father and then kissed his ring.
"Where is your sweet daughter? I haven't seen her since I was still a squire." He couldn't help but smirk.

Maggie glowered at her. "I'm telling your father!" She turned on her heel and hurried back. When she reached the courtyard, she curtsied, looking nervous, eyes on the ground.
The Lord was just about to answer Tristan's question when he saw her. "Ah, Mistress Magdalen. Where's my daughter?"
"She, um...she's indisposed at the moment. In a tree."
Tyler nearly snorted, but cleared his throat before the Lord could throw a fit. "My Lord, it seems your daughter and my future wife is just as adventurous as ever. Allow me to find her myself?"
The Lord nodded, looking annoyed. "Make yourselves at home." And with that, he and his men went back inside.

Tristan had been biting his lip to keep from laughing but now just let it go, he laughed loudly and shook his head.
"She never changes," He said with a grin and then turned to Maggie. "Sir Tristan of Blackwater," he said and bowed his head to her.
Raven was smiling, ridiculously pleased with herself. She stood up on the branch and held her arms out to the side. She walked from one end to the other, balancing expertly. When she saw someone heading her way from the castle she grabbed a branch above her and leaned forward.

She curtsied at him, but her eyes flicked up to look at him through her lashes. He was handsome. "Magdalen. Lady Raven's lady-in-waiting." Her time in the castle came after Tyler and Tristan had left, so she was unfamiliar with them.
~~ Tyler approached the tree, smirking up at her. "Still causing problems for your poor attending ladies, I see. Hello, Raven. Lovely to see you again." His voice had a sarcatic edge to it.

"I am sorry that is your position. The girl is quite a handful. She's chased off dozens of girls over the years, three while I was in service here." Tristan said with a grin and then pulled off his heavy gloves.
~
Raven stared widely at him for a moment, "My father chose you," she exclaimed and pointed at him. "You?" She started to laugh, "How bloody fitting!"
Raven glared down at him angrily. "Sir, I have no doubt that my father lured you here under a very large dowery and the freedom to do with me what you will, but I'm afraid there will be no wedding."
She kicked a twig at his head.

Maggie tried to keep a straight face, but she failed, letting out a little giggle and smiling. She leaned in, conspiratorally. "She's terrible melodramatic, isn't she. I've been here two years. Apparently, I've lasted the longest."
~~ Tyler dodged the twig easily, smirking. "Your father thought you'd be pleased. We always got aong so well, didn't we, Raven." He clambored up the tree, swinging up to sit beside her on the sturdy limb. "So, we'll marry, and it'll be fine."

"You have and she is," Tristan said with a smile. "You must like her if you've decided to stay on."
~
Raven eyed him warily, "I hate you, so no it won't be fine." She looked up him up and down, he hadn't changed very much since she last saw him...and his first wedding.
"Did I give you leave to climb my tree?" She asked him quite seriously, crossing her arms.

Maggie sighed a little, moving to the well. She hauled up the bucket, using the attached ladle to offer him water. "I do like her. We get on well, most days. When she's not in a tiff over something."
~~
Tyler smirked over at her. "I climbed of my own accord. And you can't truly still be upset with me. I had no choice in my first marriage anymore than I have choice in this one."

"Like being forceably wed to the man who broke her heart?" Tristan said to her with a raised brow, he took the offered ladle and took a sip.
~
"Yes I am. It showed your true character." She shifted away from him and glared. "You seduced me, took my maidenhood and never once chose to tell me that you were promised to someone else."
Raven began her slow decent down the treet, "I will be present and I will marry you tomorrow, merely because if I don't I will be disinherited and sent to a nunnery, which I refuse to allow."
She hopped down onto the grass and wiped her hands clean.

Maggie arched a brow, curious now. "What do you mean? Who must she marry?"
~~
Tyler frowned, following her down. "My betrothal meant nothing. It wasn't worth discussing. I was focused solely on you." He jumped the rest of the way down, standing tall to look down at her. "And if I remember correctly, you seduced me nearly as much as I seduced you."
