Jack sniffed the air and then started to smile. "That smells delicious..." his stomach grumbled. "I didn't even know I was that hungry, thanks." he clapped his hands together and smiled at her.

Somehow she forced a smile onto her lips as she looked over at him. "You're welcome." Well, at least she got a 'thanks.' She dished out some food on a plate for him, handing it to him before dishing her own meal.

Jack dug right on in and began to eat the delicious food that Lillian had so graceously prepared for him.

Once they had both finished - Jack his second plate - Lillian cleared the plates and started washing them. "By the fact that you practically shoveled everything into your mouth, I assume you enjoyed it...?"

She tried not to notice him smiling at her. It made her stomach do flips, and she didn't like it. "Well, I'm pretty good with a needle..."

She finished washing the dishes and set them out to dry. She turned to him, letting out a small sigh. "Yes, Jack, I will sew on the buttons for you," she said, answering his unasked question with a slight smirk.

She held out her hand, licking her lips. "Hand it over," she said, meaning his shirt with the missing buttons.

Jack unbuttoned his shirt and then got up and handed it to her. "See, right there," he showed her the ones that were missing.

Lillian's eyes were wide. She assumed it was another shirt. A shirt he wasn't wearing.
"Yep, see 'em," she replied, not looking at him. She rushed to her bag and got out her needle, some dark thread, and some extra buttons from her sewing kit and got to work.
