"I wanna know everything you know about Clancey. Where you suspect he's going, if he's got men with him. Everything, or I'll kill you." Jack said.

Lillian left the men to it and made her way to the kitchen area, filling a kettle with water and placing it on the stove to make tea or coffee.
The man on the floor, meanwhile, gave into Jack's threats and told him everything. Clancey had probably set them up, but he was traveling with a gang who was known to set up camp in the nearby mountain range.

"Well, looks like that's where we're going," Jack said.

"Tomorrow," Lillian said firmly. "We should stay here for the night, get a good sleep and eat a real meal." She was standing with her hands on her hips, silently telling Jack that she wouldn't be told otherwise.

Jack sighed, "Fine," he relented. He handed Lillian a gun. "Watch him while I go get some wood for a fire."

She took the gun without hesitation and without flinching. She held it confidently and would use it if she had to. The water in the kettle started boiling, so she went to turn the stove off and make some coffee.

A few minutes later Jack returned with the firewood and set it down beside the hearth. He glanced at the man sitting on the floor.
"You try anything funny and I will kill you. Sit," He pointed at one of the kitchen chairs.

The man scrambled off of the floor and sat down, watching Jack with a very nervous expression. Lillian walked over to Jack and handed him a mug of coffee, standing close so the man wouldn't hear her. "Do we really have to keep him here? He gives me the creeps."

"Yeah we do, we're taking him with us tomorrow too. I ain't lettting him loose so he can warn somebody," Jack took a sip from his mug. "I could tie him up somewhere I guess."

She let out a sigh, and she was certain it wasn't because she didn't like the idea of not being alone with Jack anymore. After all, she didn't like him. "Just don't hurt him or anything," she said, looking up into his eyes, her own wide and just a bit sparkly.

"I won't..." Jack said with a mischevious smirk. "Alright you, let's go...outside." He finished his coffee and set the mug on the table before hoisting the guy to his feet. The man grumbled but followed anyway.

Lillian scratched through the cupboards, finding enough food to put together a pretty good meal. She put out some bread and cheese, boiled some carrots and potatoes, and even roasted some chicken over the fire. The house started to smell divine, if she did say so herself.

Jack came back inside and then stepped back over the fire, placing his hands in front of it, "It's starting to get chilly out there."

That's all he had to say? She was here slaving away, making a nice meal for him, and all he could say was 'It's starting to get chilly out there'? Lillian closed her eyes and counted to ten. She had just about had it with this man.
